The island has now been elevated by 9 cm due to the magma pressure. Last night there was one quake of 4.4 on the Richter scale, at a depth of 18km, which was also felt on the neighbouring island of La Palma.

Them folks better haul a** while the hauling is good.
When it blows, there is the possibility of setting off a chain of events which could even effect the East coast.
Then we have Yellowstone doing weird stuff that nobody really understands fully.
Kind of puts the gas bubbles in Bayou Corne in proper perspective.

Yep, could mean a seriously explosive eruption! From the other link, they've called a meeting to discuss possible measures that the populace will be considering.

Is this where there concerns about a large tidal wave if there is a slump or land slide?

La Palma is the island that everyone was focusing on as far as super landslide with resulting tsunami. Not sure but El Hierro could cause similar depending upon how much landmass collapses into the ocean and which section.

No, it’s not the volcano making the island 9 cm higher. That’s ‘Obama’ making the ocean level go down.

I’d peg this one on Roberts... Obama would have been quick to seal up his test results. :-\

money quote...from your link.
María José Blanco also said that an eruption on land can be excluded at the moment but that IGN follows up the situation very consciously as all the events are going much quicker than during last years eruption.
Indeed this is ramping up very quickly and with more energy. When she goes I don’t think it will be an undersea cinder cone this time.

EL Hierro was responsible actually for the largest tsunami on the east coast.

You’re right. It’s going to be real interesting to see where all that pressure finally gets released, and dangerous.

I didn’t know that. I’ve just always heard it was La Palma that created the greatest tsunami and posed the biggest threat to the east coast.

Haven't heard anything more, in fact talked to a friend who stopped over Sunday night from Pierre Part, kind of in the same area as Bayou Corne, and he and his wife hadn't heard anything about it until I mentioned.
He's an old oilfield guy like myself and suspected a surface gas pocket.
When I mentioned the salt dome theory, he said "Mey, dat's not good", LOL.
We worked for the same oilfield service company for 30 years.
