Don’t think I ever purchased an album for the cover art. However, below are some I thought were cool back in the day -
Savoy Brown - Street Corner Talking
T. Rex - Electric Warrior
Faces - Oh La La
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Queen - News of the World

Even better was the Velvet Underground album with the peelable banana designed by Andy Warhol. They’re worth a lot of money now if the banana was never peeled.

Friday is a good day for a frivolous music thread. And this is.

If I want to look at softcore porn, I won't buy a CD by a talentless bimbo pictured writhing on the cover.

Remember the “Sticky Fingers” cover? It even had a subtle “bulge” in the appropriate spot.

None.Every album/CD I’ve ever bought was bought because I knew,or at least suspected, that there was at least one song...or one passage...that I’d enjoy.

“Roxy Music (Avalon)”
I can’t say I have ever bought an album got its cover, but Avalon is on one of the coolest albums ever made (great cover art too).

I had the Thick as a Brick LP when it came out in all it's glory. Little Milton's collaborator flashing her undies was pretty funny at the time.
But making it like a multi-page newspaper with all the satirical articles was very cool.

I think Tull stole that concept from the Four Seasons.
