A high-profile member of the Boy Scouts of America's governing board says he doesn't support the Scouts' policy of excluding gays and will work from within to seek a change.
Ernst & Young CEO James Turley, whose accounting firm has welcomed gays and lesbians in its own work force, becomes the first member of the Scouts' Executive Board known to publicly disapprove of the policy.

He should be thrown off the board immediately.
Get his gay-loving a** off the board in short order!
The perverts are after the young boys in the same way foxes circle the chicken coop.. They’ll never give up, it takes a bullet to stop them..
FIRE HIM! If he doesn’t have a problem with packing fudge, he should work in a candy store not the BSA! Where do these Obama-holes come from?
Corporations have helped to destroy our culture of traditional values and bribed our elected officials, thus corrupting our entire political process. They put their international interests ahead of what is good for America. Corporations are bad for Main Street.
Can he be out-voted? Is his word the final word?
“To kick off Pride Month, Ernst & Young hosted a screening and panel discussion of the PBS documentary Out and Proud in Chicago and the recent Chicago History Museum exhibit “Out in Chicago.” Approximately 30 people attended the event at the Chicago offices of Ernst & Young June 1.”
Nope, there has to be a majority on the board to change the policy. There won’t be.
is he elected or appointed.
His firm does hollyweird accounting.
He should resign or this should be seen as accepting his resignation.
He cannpt endorse membership but seeks to remain in place working as a lavender mafia fifth columnist. Give him the boot.
I believe, but I’m not sure, they serve one year terms - just like District, Council, and Area board seats. A nominating committee puts forward a name, and then there is a vote, and almost always unanimous. At the end of the terms, you either are invited by the nominating committee to serve another term, or you are thanked for your service and given a placque.
The placque signifies ‘you’re done’. Generally, you request not to be nominated again if you are tired or too busy to fill that role.
Nobody is ever ‘voted out’. People resign, and that’s what can happen here if enough board members do a ‘WTF?’ with him and ask if Ernst & Young will be paying off the families of all the kids who are going to get cornholed by his moment of egalitarianism.
This news should make the Jerry Sanduskys of this world very happy.

Has he proposed a “Jerry Sandusky” weekend camp yet?
You are absolutely correct:Someone needs to prepare the
Walnut and Brass Plaque
for James Turley.
Indeed. I see all these OWS protestors complaining about “right-wing corporate America!!!!” :? Where are these allegedly “right-wing” corporations and where do I apply for a job with them?
You do have a way with words - don't you?
This isn’t about hating gay people.
Only an idiot would let a 15 year-old girl sleep alone in a tent with a 15-year-old boy.
So why would anybody want to let a 15-year-old homosexual sleep in a tent with a 15-year-old boy?
