It's time to face the music. It's time to not hate as much.
Of course, there's another side to that. Sometimes posts here are somewhat extreme, but the moderators seem to do a good job taking care of those.
My preferred candidate in this election was Herman Cain. Imagine my chagrin as I basically found out he's a serial ... well, douche and philanderer.
I still think he's brilliant.
Conservatives really didn't have a dog in the race. I think that many prospective candidates didn't bother because they felt Obama would be unbeatable and they didn't want the media proctology exam that they would be subject to.
I didn't post much, but I watched as people here tore each other a new one over things that they shouldn't have. The difference between Bachmann and Santorum wasn't that much, but freepers got in fights about it.
The Paulbots are a different breed, but Paul (aside from being like Jeff Dunham's Norman puppet) has some good ideas.
It seemed, though, that people here just got MAD.
I understand. Obama...to put it nicely... is a turd with sharp cutting edges.
We all know what he is and what we are facing... but it turned around in 2010 and it did so because Tea Partiers and conservatives made their voices heard. Some democrats JOINED us.
I think those people are still out there. That's what Mitt has to fear. He needs to assure voters that he supports conservative fiscal ideals.
But Mitt will also win over some middle and middle left people.
It's a shame that people will be ripping each other apart over this. Honestly...we can't do that anymore. It's over. It is time for the 11th commandment.

A man that fabricated his book. A man that has STOLEN VALOR from the Navy Seals for the sake of his campaign.
So...we all contact Romney and make our expectations known and we fight for conservative Congressmen/women and Senators where we are.
Hopefully, Free Republic becomes a place, again, where everyone can speak their mind and not be jumped on for recognizing the reality that Romney is going to be the nominee.
I honestly love this place and the people I have become close to.

I agree with your observations regarding the tone of many posts. And I also was a Herman Cain supporter. But I won’t vote for Romney.

I’ve decided to take the following approach with those who tell me that letting an unrestrained marxist win is better for my country than a Romney win, to laugh to myself and remember there are also folks who say some of the most vile things on youtube when a video of puppies appear.
Maybe that he ran off and hid behind his wife’s skirt.. but that’s just my opinion. I was also a supporter and donated to Cain’s campaign.

Romney is either a conservative or not. Nothing in Romney's past shows that those middle/middle left voters will be disappointed in him. Conservatives, on the other hand, will be proved to be fools once again.

That was Axelrod who spent all the time hanging around the hood ~ and he didn't even get good ones ~ mostly nut cases.
The MSM is no longer able to tell the difference ~ they've retired all their competent reporters and are now reduced to the dregs.
I did track down where one of those women lived ~ the one working for the US government who'd been Bill Clinton's spokesperson in the Elian kidnapping ~ she actually bought her house in her kid's name so she could "hide" somehow from her enemies.
Didn't work. Found her anyway. Herman never hid behind a child. She helped kidnapped one and hid behind another.
If Herman needed an enemy to demonstrate his fundamental political and moral integrity that one was it.
