Responding to veepstakes rumors, Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, vice chair of the House Republican Conference and a rising star on Capitol Hill, says she's open to being Mitt Romney's running mate and encourages him to tap a woman for the job.

From National Review's Robert Costa:

In an interview with National Review Online, the four-term Republican acknowledged that she's open to the idea, but took care to note that she is not "seeking" the nod. Romney, she says, should simply pick a conservative running mate—and if it's a woman, all the better.

"Republican women bring an important voice to the table," McMorris-Rodgers says. "The big issues that face this country right now—the economy, jobs, the debt, and health care—are on the forefront of people's minds, and especially on women's minds."

No gimmick is going to drag Mitt “Dead Horse” Romney across the finish line.

He is a defective product where the GOP is concerned and should be recalled immediately.

Because of his lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal background, he is the only candidate guaranteed to give Obama re-election.

This was the only thing inevitable about Mitt Romney.

Someone call up Juan McLame and ask him how that strategy worked out for him.

It didn’t work because McCain was on top the ticket....and he was a squish to boot. Suspending his campaign...bad move.

McCain had a better chance than Romney does. Trying the same stunt 4 years later is idiotic at best.

Only if a woman happens to be the best person for the job. Not into affirmative action pandering.

Won’t change my mind one way or the other. Not this time.

She may be better than Romney, though.

Great, more identity group politics, just what we need.

To save time and effort, perhaps Romney should simply ask Debbie Wasserman Schultz to select the Republican VP. That would ensure that we would have a politically correct candidate, which seems to be the most important qualification.

If so let her be the top of the ticket.

Cheney can still steal it. Praying so.

Sarah Palin did WONDERS for John McCain's campaign. She got lots of folks excited about voting. What did McCain in was his going back to Washington during the 'fiscal crisis', talking tough, then folding like a cheap suit when the TARP vote finally occurred.

It's dumbass statements like that....that make me roll my eyes. She thinks these things...are "especially on women's minds"

Does she not think...these things aren't on MEN'S minds ESPECIALLY????

I think a female VP Candidate is a fine idea — Nancy Pelosi with The Messiah! One of them can be the female VP, their choice.

Thank you for helping reelect Obama, fool.

That seems to be the only response and ammunition that MittWitts have anymore.

Do you really think it is effective in getting your point across?

Your boy's Romney is almost identical to Obama and Mitt is a consumate liar. Why would a conservative, who are known to actually stick to their principles, given the ample evidence that exists to prove that Obama's and Mitt's record are almost Identical vote for Mitt?

They're the same poison, just a different potency.

I like CMR and I've donated every time to her campaign as I live in her district...

but she has no national prescence and would not be helpful to Romney..

I want to see a female VP and a female prez but we will need someone who is on the national stage....

Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers . . . says she's open to being Mitt Romney's running mate and encourages him to tap a woman for the job. "Republican women bring an important voice to the table," McMorris-Rodgers says.

Based on this comment, she obviously belongs with Romney but will have no influence on my negative view of the big government liberal from Massachusetts. Real conservatives (in contrast to Romney's "severe" conservatives) would prefer that a republican choose the best qualified person for the job, without regard to race or sex. It's liberal bigots who judge candidates by the color (or curves) of their skin and not by the content of their character.

Why would I vote for either the Crypto-Marxist Obama or the lying, Left-wing, Progressive Liberal Mitt Romney, both are liberals and this election season, as all election seasons, for conservatives, it's ABL (Anybody But a Liberal).

Besides, I'm a conservative first, and a Republican second.

Why would I throw my principles overboard and become a Party-Over-Principle hack?

Why would I support the GOP-E in their endeaver to destroy the influence of the Tea-Party by manipulating and cheating Mitt Romney into the nomination?

Why would I give a seal of approval to the dastardly, evil behavior of Mitt Romney in his character assasinatio of both Newt and Rick Santorum?

Why would I vote out of fear of Obama?

That seems to be all you MittWitts have for a reason for voting for a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal like Mitt Romney, Fear of Obama.

The point I was trying to make was - It doesn’t matter what kind of candidate you get as VP (woman in the case of McQueeg), start with a crappy candidate in the #1 spot, the #2 spot can only do so much.

The GOP tried to save McLame’s candidacy with a “ringer” in Sarah Palin. I believe that anyone “lesser” would have seen Obama with truly record margin of victory in all counts and in more states. I believe that Palin added at least 20 percentage points to McCain’s vote percentage, and possibly several dozen of his electoral college votes.

And here we go again - with a candidate who is more consistently liberal than McCain (that is pretty significant in and of itself)... I’m not sure any scheme, including one to bring on board another woman, is going to make a difference. The GOP, RNC, and MSM have who they want on the November ballots. A Communist Islamo-Cultic-PseudoChristian vs. a Socialist, Big Government Pseudo-Christian Cultist (who has said on the record that he is a Republican out of convenience).
