Amar'e Stoudemire went and attacked a fire extinguisher last night after the losing to the Heat, and now he'll possibly be out for the season with a lacerated hand.
This morning, as you can imagine, the New York tabloids responded with some solid headlines.

Amare Stoudemire cuts hand following Game 2 loss
EXCERPT:
MIAMI Amare Stoudemire draped a towel over his left hand as he walked into the privacy of the New York Knicks training room an hour after the game, needing a sanctuary from prying eyes.
The specifics of what Stoudemire did immediately after Game 2 were unclear. Only this was certain: His hand was cut so severely that doctors and paramedics were summoned, drops of blood stained the carpet, a piece of glass in the door to a fire-extinguisher case needed to be replaced, and a bad night for the Knicks on the court got much worse when Stoudemire walked off it.
Stoudemires availability and New Yorks hopes for the rest of this Eastern Conference first-round series against the Miami Heat look bleak at best, first because the Knicks were beaten 104-94 on Monday night to fall into a 2-0 hole in the best-of-seven matchup, then because of whatever emotions boiled over near the locker room afterward.
“I am so mad at myself right now, I want to apologize to the fans and my team, not proud of my actions, headed home for a new start,” Stoudemire wrote on Twitter about two hours after the game.

While smashing the glass was dumb, as a Knick fan, part of me is glad that Stoudemire cares enough to be that angry after a loss.
Thank God he can still tweet.
Real tough guy. Fire extinguishers don’t hit back.
He's the anti-Lamar Odom, he would have just yawned and said "Oh, Well...where's my paycheck?"
Better a fire extinguisher than some other guy’s face.
“Real tough guy. Fire extinguishers dont hit back.”
They don’t feel pain or have families, either. Would you rather have him hit a person?
I like Stoudemire. He came from a REALLY bad family, with his father absent and his mother and brothers in and out of prison all through his life, but has managed to stay out of trouble and make something of himself.
Exactly what I was going to say. A lot of big-money players don't seem to give a rat's butt about anything but their own personal careers.
Could be much worse - I still remember the video of the Argentine (I think) basketball player who rendered himself a quadriplegic when he slammed his head into the basketball goal support after missing a layup. Tragic what uncontrolled pride can do.
Happened in the ‘85 World Series. John Tudor was frustrated and punched a ceiling fan. He eliminated himself from the Series.
NY Post: Fire Drilled!
Did he say, “This is for Trayvon” before he hit the extinguisher?
I remember Kareem Abdul-Jabbar broke his hand when smashing the structure that held the baskets up. I think that happened at the same time when he caught a finger in his eye that caused him severe eye damage. But thank God someone somewhere in pro sports still cares about winning and losing.
Uhhh, I would rather him hit nothing and not betray his team by eliminating his contributions for the rest of the playoffs. He may have just cost his teammates a championship. Looks like he has a ways to go.
Which would have been all of two games.
It was a very, dumb thing to do, as Stoudemire has admitted.
My main response was to the other poster derisively calling him a “tough guy” for hitting a fire extinguisher that can’t fight back. The implication was that a “real” tough guy would punch a human who could fight back. (Think Meta World Piece of &$^% visciously elbowing Harden).
As for the championship, after going down 2-0, it didn’t look like that was happening anyway.
At any rate, if this is the worst thing he ever does, he is OK in my book.
He let his hoodie do the talk'n.
