A man who allegedly killed his 13-year-old half-sister survived a fusillade of bullets from New York City police officers early Tuesday, after pointing his pistol at officers.
Officers responded to a 911 call at 2971 Eighth St. in Harlem at 3:27 a.m. Tuesday.
Steven Murray, 28, had allegedly shot his mother Christine Fryar, 44, and her daughter Annie, according to the NYPD. Paramedics arrived to find the daughter dead with a gunshot wound to the head. The mother, who was also shot in the head, was transported to Harlem Hospital, and is listed in critcal condition.
Police eventually confronted Murray, who was running through the surrounding neighborhood. The officers pursued Murray on foot and returned fire after he fired one shot.
NYPD Sgt. Alexander Mesa fired 39 shots, and Officer Joseph Robinson got off 45 rounds. Murray was hit 14 times, and refused to drop his weapon, reports the New York Daily News.
Murray has been charged with murder and attempted murder.

I found this in an old thread, posted by a now unknown Freeper and repost it occasionally when it fits a topic.
The Center Mass Myth and Ending a Gunfight
http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/the-center-mass-myth-and-ending-a-gunfight-triggernometry/
Lots of people stay in the fight after center mass hits, and some even win it... One, two or even several well placed center mass shots may not do what you think it will...
The author,Jim Higginbotham, who has had decades of LEO experience makes the case that even in the case of lethal hits, the perp has enough time to fire back, and in many cases kill people who were waiting to see the effect of their initial hits on target.
As a civilian, I found this article to be a real eye opener, and while it may be old news to those of you in law enforcement or the military (thank you all for your service), I hope you will take the time to read this article. God forbid any of us should get into a gunfight, but this article could be a lifesaver someday.
uh 45/15=3 one 15 round mag in the gun plus the standard 2 mags more in the belt holders. When I was just a weeee little buck as an Active Duty MP we carried double 2 mag holders on our belts for a total of 5x15 round mags which is 76 rounds, one being in the pipe we always carried condition one. Plus another 3x33 round 5.56mm for the M4's those were C3 when slung or Tactical carry and C1 when Alert or Ready carry.
If this guy took 14 hits and was still standing, then they should have called in the USAF for a airstrike.
Shot placement is everything....
You mean drop a 9 liner on him?
Surpressing fire is cool if you are a infantry platoon trying to take a machinegun nest and want to keep the little buggers heads down so you can move into a good attack position. But in a police situation, it doesnt sound like a good idea to send rounds around willy-nilly. Lots of buildings and innocent bystanders could be sent to the sweet hereafter by a stray.
ARC LIGHT.....urban renewal done right the first time.
Thanks
