The easiest way to say it is just to say it: There are grown men out there who devote themselves to the rainbow-unicorn-sparkly-pastel fantasy world of the childrens TV show My Little Pony. And, more appallingly, its not done ironically they are proud of it.

Poor ‘lil boney gotta tattle now?
LOL!
I knew the truth about a “man” who plays with dolls and watches little girl’s cartoons was a probably a weak sister.
ROTFLMAO!
Why don’t you start a blog and post pony stories boney boy? You would be a real superstar of FR!
Well sumbitch. I figured someone was.
I'm a Theocrat and a Theonomic positivist on a site that worships eighteenth century enlightenment rationalists
"Worships", huh? So.. like with shrines and praying?
Are there little pastel colored ponies in these shrines?
What kind of prayers do you say to these ponies you worship?
Can you transcribe a couple for us?
Like this image, and that site (funnyjunk.com) is evil...
I think you read too much into stuff. The simple fact of the matter is that adult men enjoying a show target marketed to little girls is odd. Doesn’t mean we think you’re gay or not conservative, or hate it or you. But it is odd. Odd happens, most everybody is a little odd on something. Some odds are a little more odd than other odds though. And in this day and age of Toddlers in Tiaras all oddness that is at all associated with little girls gets a bit of a higher raised eyebrow than other oddness. Might not be fair, but life isn’t fair.
I never saw the show. But a lot of younger children nowadays like stuff that is very simple and earnest and frankly, boring. That's so their hipster Generation X or Generation Y parents can't make jokes and be ironic about it. I guess the kids want something that's their own and something that their parents can't take over and be clever about.
“pretty clear to me that being a bonie or whatever is perverted.”
“bonie”: heh, heh!
I agree and it looks like you’ve provoked some serious drama with Zionist Conniptionator, to whose succeeding rants I continue to ask the plaintive question:
WTF?
;^)
Right?
LOL!
Yeah, THAT’S perfectly normal.....................
What’s the problem? I mean, it’s not called “My anatomically correct little pony”. ;’)
Point Taken.
I find Japanese animation generally interesting. They seem to like to trade lower frame rates for higher detail in the frames. And the big eyes are very attractive.
I've never seen an episode of MLP. There was an anime series I was following for a while called _Gunslinger Girls_ about a group of pre-pubescent girls being trained and used as assassins by the government. I liked it rather a lot, especially the music. Perhaps that would be more to your taste.
No thanks.
I left childish things behind decades ago.
So you’re into My Little Pony and think gays should be executed. Sorry, dude, you’re a freaking weirdo.
I dunno, I go for the occasional Speed Racer rerun on the spanish language channel.
Thank you so very much. You have no idea what a wonderful feeling of uplift it is to log onto Free Republic, the premier conservative site on the Internet (where I have been a member for exactly thirteen years as of the end of next month) and read a fellow conservative who doesn't even know me calling me a "freaking weirdo" because I happen to enjoy a particular cartoon show on television and because of my religious beliefs. You're too kind, really. And so mature. I'm ashamed of myself. I should just cancel my membership of this forum, slink out of the conservative movement altogether, and become a brain-dead Barack-head because someone who chooses to enjoy that show (rather than any number of fine, upstanding shows which I'm sure you enjoy on a daily basis) and because G-d A-mighty, thousands of years before I was born, decreed male homosexuality a capital offense.
Is there anything else I can possibly do to please you while we're at it? (And by "please you," please don't get any funny ideas.)
I apologize to all good "true conservatives" on this forum. Obviously "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" was created by the Illuminati to program its useless, better-off-aborted lefty slacker scum to rise up and destroy all red-blooded, G-d-fearing True Americans on a signal from Pinkie Pie (alias the Antichrist).
And while we're at it, let's also get rid of all the other vile polluters of True Conservatism, like the Jew-lovers and the Bible-thumpers and the people who don't want to euthanase the retards and the Down's syndrome people, and the biddies who want to outlaw drinking, whoring, and gambling.
You have any sparkling Kentucky bourbon on you? The Jewish Commies and their pony minions are fluoridating my drinking water. Oh, and you wouldn't happen to have any vitamin B-17 on you, would you? I hear the Commies don't like that either.
Japan is a little different than America is with regards to animation; they see it more as another medium to present a story or a vision than America does, where anything animated is predominantly thought of as 'kiddy', i.e. 'cartoon = for kids'. The particular term would be the Animation Age Ghetto, and it's a shame that its influence is still so strong.
You may say that shows like My Little Pony are childish. Fair enough; the studio intended the audience to be the 5-11 girl demographic (albeit with plenty of Parental Bonuses like the old Looney Tunes to make it enjoyable to watch for older people, since that was one of the intended goals of the show's creator). You may say that shows like Family Guy and its ilk are childish. Fair enough; those kind of shows are filled to the brim with vulgar and immature humor that does not strike one as 'adult', in the sense of thematic complexity. But going about animation in that way is VERY limiting; if live-action shows had to follow the standard that you seem to place on animation, then everything would either be G and PG ("It must be for kids!") or NC-17 ("Trashy junk filled to the brim with shock humor!").
I don't think you'd describe Princess Mononoke as childish. Or Watership Down. Or Neon Genesis Evangelion. Or Grave of the Fireflies. Or Paranoia Agent. Or Cowboy Bebop. And so on and so forth.
Animation != Childish
When my 10 YO daughter was much younger, she had a My Little Pony Christmas DVD. It was one of the worst kids video I had ever seen. I wanted to puke after seeing it. Aside from the sickening cuteness and femininity of everything, most of the ponies, especially the star of the show acted like they were mentally ill. Suffering from personality disorders.
