According to recent Twitters from Utah, Mia Love has won the GOP Utah convention with 70% of the delegates. She avoids a primary and goes straight to the November election against Jim Matheson. This is for the newly created 4th Congressional district.
Whenever I think of Mia Love, the song Come and Get Your Love gets into my head and just won’t leave. She should use it in campaign ads.
It won’t be an easy general election for Love, given that RAT Congressman Matheson has survived everything they’ve thrown at him, but the fact that most of the voters are new to Matheson and that Mitt Romney will carry the district in a landslide over Obama makes me bullish on her chances.
As for the number of black Republicans in the House next year, if it ends up being 6, it won’t be because two black Republicans will win in NC. Vernon Robinson has a good chance of winning the GOP nomination in NC-08 and then defeating RAT Larry Kissell in the general (although Robinson has pulled defeat from the jaws of victory before), but I don’t think that Bill Randall stands any chance of winning the NC-13 primary over George Holding or Paul Coble (who have each raised hundreds of thousands of dollars while Randall has raised less than $10,000). There’s Michael Wiliams in TX (with a tough primary but a slam dunk general if he wins the primary), incumbents Tim Scott of SC (shoo-in) and Allen West of FL (ight favorite in a marginal district), which would only get us to 5. But then there’s Paradise City, AZ Mayor Vernon Parker, who’s running in the new, open, marginal AZ-09. I would say that Parker is a slight favorite in the primary and a slight underdog in the general, but if the RATs nominate a moombatl (and I think they will) he could pull off the upset.
If Michael Williams wins the TX-25 primary, he’ll face a Democrat sacrificial lamb. Doggett is running in a new Austin-to-San Antonio Hispanic-majority district ( numbered the TX-35 IIRC).
Mia Love’s parents are Haitian, so her maiden name is probably French.
It is as bad as a vanity, but your lack of understanding is noted.
Kittys crap in you cherioos this morning ?

So, he’ll become a pander-bear???
Michael Williams. He is running from Arlington, Tx now.
Apparently the moderator doesn’t agree with you either, having ignored your command to pull the thread.
If you care the name of the group that performed that song was called redbone back in the day.
She’s gonna be harassed by the Klan with the Tan in their hoodies. She will be named a “race traitor” for joining up with the uppity whiteys unwilling to surrender the Republic for the Left’s racist socialist paradise of misery and poverty for all (except the party “rulers”).
Thanks very much.
Wimmer, who lost, was endorsed by Senator Mike Lee.
Love was endorsed by Romney and his son Josh.

If you ever want to study about Dems and race, past and present, read Dr. Thomas Sowell’s books. Start with “The Vision of the Annointed.” You can google on the subject and find pieces written by conservatives on the subject.
He already is one: in 2004, Lloyd Doggett ran and won in a Hispanic-majority CD stretching from black and Hispanic parts of Austin to 95% Hispanic McAllen on the Mexican border. My joke was that he campaigned in Mexican-American areas under a new name, Lorenzo Canino. : )
You’re right, I’ve seen them on TV commercials for ‘70s compilation albums. Redbone’s band members were Native American, right? I don’t know what else they recorded, but Come and Get Your Love is very catchy and has a great bassline.
Color me surprised. Wimmer had piled up endorsements from the Club for Growth, GOA, Mike Lee, Ken Blackwell. I was expecting a primary.
Love must have good charisma.
In a recent poll she was just 3 points behind Matheson. This is one race where Romney is actually helpful. Time to put Matheson away.
Meanwhile Liljenquist forces old man Hatch into a primary.
There was a hilarious article I think it WA Post “How Hatch Beat Back a Tea Party Challenge” then it was changed to “How Hatch (Almost) Beat Back a Tea Party Challenge” after it was clear Hatch was in fact just short of 60%.
Liljenquist has been saying though that we won’t win the Senate, this in order to counter Hatch crowing about how he’d be a committee chair. He’s needs to lose that lousy tactic, that’s loser talk. Hatch is a lot tougher than the hapless Bennett.
Also the open 2nd district seat which featured a huge number of hopefuls saw Author and Air Force vet Chris Stewart win the nomination outright over a former State House Speaker.
There was some talk of hanky panky that sounds bogus to me.

Just heard that Barry and Reggie Love broke up, sooooo sad. :(
;)
Also meant to ping you to #38
Love was endorsed by Josh Romney, Mitt Romney didn’t endorse anyone.
She has lots of Tea Party support too. Nothing to fret about, Love and Wimmer were both excellent candidates.
