According to recent Twitters from Utah, Mia Love has won the GOP Utah convention with 70% of the delegates. She avoids a primary and goes straight to the November election against Jim Matheson. This is for the newly created 4th Congressional district.
Looks like the first Black Republican Congresswoman will be coming from... Utah. With the next Congress, we could have at least 6 Black GOP House members (joining Col. West & Tim Scott, with 2 coming from NC & 1 from TX, if they win their primaries).
Wasn’t there a gent from TX who was once part of the TX Railroad Commission? He thinking of the Senate then decided against it.

Yes, that guy might run for the other seat or something though, in two years or so, right?
She’s not related to Reggie Love though, right?
could be....what I read a while back was interesting. He’s a self-made man and accomplished.
Buy a clue.

(You know the rest).
Michael Williams. He’s now running for Congress from TX-25. Frankly, he ought to be the Governor of Texas.
I would vote for Williams! I think I got his FB feed on my Facebook, not even my district.
Yes. His name is Michael Williams, and he’s running for Congress instead, in the newly redrawn TX-25 (which will definitely elect a Republican). He’s the potential black Congressman from Texas that DJ mentioned. Michael Williams first has to win a tough primary, though, with former TX Secretary of State Roger Williams (no relation) being his main competitor. Michael Williams is the real deal, and I hope he wins his primary and joins the U.S. House of Representatives, where he’ll be a superstar; he can then run for the Senate in a few years (maybe in 2015 after incoming Senator Ted Cruz is named to the U.S. Supreme Court).
Found his wiki. Looks like he’s running for the TX-25 district (which has been modified due to the Census). If victorious in the primary he’ll likely face Lloyd Doggett who won his 2010 election by only 15,000 votes. The newly redistricted seat might give Doggett more of a challenge.
