Word For The Day, Monday, 3/25/12
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
burgeon; verb
1. to grow or develop quickly; flourish: The town burgeoned into a city. He burgeoned into a fine actor. 2. to begin to grow, as a bud; put forth buds, shoots, etc., as a plant (often followed by out, forth ).
Etymology: 12751325; (noun) Middle English burjon, burion; shoot, bud < Anglo-French burjun, burg ( e ) on; Old French burjon < Vulgar Latin *burriōne ( m ), accusative of *burriō, derivative of Late Latin burra wool, fluff (compare bourrée , bureau), presumably from the down covering certain buds; (v.) Middle English burg ( e ) onen, borgen < Anglo-French, Old French, derivative of the noun
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.

Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Of course, Zimmerman didn’t know this when he labeled him “suspicious” and decided to chase him.
I am more concerned with the facts, than with FReeper comments. I rarely go out there into the FReeper world. The emerging facts, the kind that will be used in court show that there are indeed two sides to this story and we had only heard one side. Enough already with the racist thugs setting the tone and content of the discourse.
An eyewitness places Zimmerman on the ground having the crap beat out of him. He had a gun, perhaps the kid made the move for the gun and it went off and killed him, not Zimmerman. We don’t even know for sure what Zimmerman has claimed. A witness was watching and dialing 911 when the shot went off. He places Zimmerman on the ground screaming for help with Trayvon beating on him in the dominant position on top of him at the time of death. Sounds like self defense or a tragic incident, not the castle doctrine law at all.
The facts will sort themselves out.
I just find it disgraceful that such nonsense is tolerated on FR. I would never refer a black person to FR because of this type of thing.
Well, now that I can agree with. I stay here in class for the most part. This is not a whitey shoots innocent black kid case. Not even close.

Ok, full disclosure. I laughed.
@informedblackman is an excellent black conservative that i follow on twitter, and his focus has been disgust with the race pimping.
So he was patrolling and noticed someone in a hoodie - and while probably every one of us owns a hooded sweatshirt, we know that most robberies occur by folks wearing hoodies to cover hair/ears, and most of their face. I can't help that - it is pretty common knowledge. Same goes for the slouchy pants - more likely to be worn by thugs, or those wanting to look like thugs, than the general population.
So Zimmerman is patrolling his neighborhood because he has taken the responsibility to watch for his neighbors at that time and he sees someone wearing a hoodie and doing something he feels is suspicious. Maybe it was a kid walking too close to apartments because he was new to the area and cutting closer to homes, maybe he was looking at cars he thought were nice - I"m not blaming the kid just saying something looked suspicious. I don't know about you but if I had someone getting too close to my car I would watch them - I do think Zimmerman should have called it in and allowed the police to handle it - but he didn't. And a witness says he was attacked - maybe the kid was defending himself, but the prior attack on a bus driver tells me that this story isn't as cut and dried as you think.
They are also ignoring the fact that Zimmerman has black relatives.
Obama’s state control burgeons as he bludgeons the citizenry with ever more gov’t rules & regulations...
A+++ police state in the making. just wait til he’s reelected!
IMO ragging on Zimmerman is playing into the hands of the racepimps and that is far more destructive IMO. i am NEUTRAL on zimmerman and militantly ANTI race-pimping. Facts are not clear on what zimmer did/didn’t do, but they sure as hell are crystaL clear on the Sharpton/Jessejackson/LeBron James we are all HOODIE AMERICANS bull$H!T.
I read that it was raining. Wearing a hood over your head when it’s raining isn’t suspicious to me. I’ve done it myself.
the hoody aspect of this is just stupid. there had to have been more to it than that. and i have a hard time imagining someone from Jeanette PA, which has a de minimus african american population, knowing from hoodies in the HOOD sense. I think that was Whyisa’s point to you. I am not afraid of black people, i live and work in an extremely diverse area, hoods are up, hoods are down etc. I think that zimmerman’s neighborhood was also ethnically diverse. You judge suspicion and danger based on behavior, not on hoodies, and i think that the RACE BATERS are the one’s injecting race into this case. The kid was unfortunately shot. he happened to be black and wearing a hoody, i do NOT think that was relevant, no matter how hard others try to make it so.
and yes that’s a typo= it’s RACE BAITERS.
I just read it. I don’t think I’ll be reading the transcripts. So far I am hopeful.
i sent the link to the “wigs” in my ofc, LOL. they will prob listen. i don’t have time, though i think it would be interesting. i think phil klein’s report was adequate to get a feel for how it’s going.
Am I wrong to be optimistic?
Example: I live in a nice neighborhood - some richer than others, all types of nationalities/backgrounds. I never feel unsafe here. I was driving a few months ago and a very large group of young black men were in the middle of the street playing ball - it was an unusual site only because I travel that street daily and had never seen a large group of kids or young men there. They didn't scare me a bit, they looked like they belonged here and were polite and moved. It wasn't the race of the kids, it was their behavior - Now, if they had stood in the road and approached me for some reason it would have probably scared me - their actions determined how I perceived them.
