On Sundays Face the Nation on CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum explained that his view of the Trayvon Martin shooting differed significantly from the one held by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich was critical of President Barack Obamas reaction, but Santorum placed the blame on accused shooter George Zimmermans mental state.
Well, you know, obviously, Im not privy to whats going on in someones mind, Santorum said. Obviously, in my opinion, someone
has a very sick mind who would pursue someone like this. This is clearly a heinous act. You know, there are a lot of people who have a lot of distorted views of reality. Its a tragic, tragic case. And my heart goes out to the parents, too. I cant imagine what theyre suffering, losing their son in such a horrific way. All I would say is that, whatever the motive is, it was a malicious one, and a very, very tragic one.

Zimmerman was stalking him with gun in hand...Treyvon defends himself from an unidentified and armed stalker and the stalker gets off because he shot the kid defending himself, is that what you’re saying?
The gun was in his hand? That’s new info. Where’d you see/hear that?
How stupid can you possibly be?
People die from blows to the head, multiple times, daily.
Ya think if someone is beating your face in, your not going to protect yourself?
wduuf is up?
Answer the question slick.
How much damned sense does that make, assaulting a man with a gun? If he hasn’t shot you already, you should be running for dear life. Don’t know who you are jacknhoo but you’re either a dumb-*ss, a Sh*t-disturber or both!
“Give it a rest people. Youre starting to sound like deranged Paul supporters. Hmm, maybe that explains it.”
I’ve heard from several sources that Romneybots are here and using this site to bash Santorum.
That makes complete sense to me. Of course their rhetoric is so similar to Obama supporters, that it’s hard to tell one from the other.
Thanks for posting, parksstp.
Ya know what? No one ever reported that. You're just making this cheet up.
In fact, you're a liar, no better than the typical mob of race baiters.
“Ill it turns out be so.”
That sentence doesn’t make a lick of sense.
Then again, most of what you post doesn’t make sense either.
All the evidence is trending torwards the following likely scenario:
Zimmerman lost sight of Trayvon.
No weapons were drawn, no physical contact was made.
Zimmerman was walking away, leaving the area.
The situation was OVER.
Got it?
Trayvon then chose to travel a considerable distance, to reestablish contact, with the premeditated intent of assaulting Zimmerman and inflicting grievous bodily harm on his person.
He then proceeded to physically assault Zimmerman.
Got it?
Trayvon Martin made that conscious decision to pursue and physically assault Zimmerman with intent to inflict bodily injury.
Santorum’s comments proves his inability to practice common sense restraint when making public comments on the record, let alone even bother to review the available evidence before making said statements.
As for you, just spouting inane drivel without even bothering to consider the available testimony, instead choosing to parrot the racist lynch mob script of an absurd series of fabrications and outright lies, proves what you are, beyond any shadow of a doubt.
Your screen name says it all. What an image!
Based on what we have heard so far, you have detailed exactly what Zimmerman did.
"...non-contact surveillance of suspicious situations and notifying police..."
I agree, none of us know what happened yet. One person is dead, otherwise we wouldn’t be talking about it.
So now we’ll spend the rest of the week being lectured to by the pioused all-knowing Rick Santorum and his entrenched followers like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and those in the blogosphere (you know who you are), about how we didn’t interpret Santorum’s words correctly. Spare the lecture. Santorum is finished.
The only reason we’re even talking about it today is because fools like Obama and Santorum went out of their way to comment on it without knowing any facts of the investigation.
I’m sorry, but Santorum has proven himself not to be presidential material by daring to say that Zimmerman “has a very sick mind.” How does this man, Santorum, KNOW anything at all about the situation? He doesn’t. Yet he chose to speak about it. We certainly don’t need a man like this who speaks with authority before he knows all of the facts, and this isn’t the first time Santorum has done it.
Santorum: open mouth; change feet.
I don’t mind talking about it. I just don’t like judgement being passed. Zimmerman has a bounty on him, there have been death threats against him, and the media is going crazy fanning the flames of racial hatred without charges being pressed or a conviction. People need to step back.
Constitution...Rule of Law...Due Process...Innocent Until Proven Guilty. America.
Yeah and he's got Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin and all the fools in the conservative blogosphere and on FOX News, out there defending every stupid word that comes out of Santorum's pie-hole.
The sad part of this is that I think that race has very little to do with what happened or the outcome.
The media and the left is making this tragedy into something that it isn’t.
Right now, I wouldn’t take either side of this. I guess that is what presentation of the facts are about.
