On Sunday’s “Face the Nation” on CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum explained that his view of the Trayvon Martin shooting differed significantly from the one held by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich was critical of President Barack Obama’s reaction, but Santorum placed the blame on accused shooter George Zimmerman’s mental state.
“Well, you know, obviously, I’m not privy to what’s going on in someone’s mind,” Santorum said. “Obviously, in my opinion, someone … has a very sick mind who would pursue someone like this. This is clearly a heinous act. You know, there are a lot of people who have a lot of distorted views of reality. It’s a tragic, tragic case. And my heart goes out to the parents, too. I can’t imagine what they’re suffering, losing their son in such a horrific way. All I would say is that, whatever the motive is, it was a malicious one, and a very, very tragic one.”

The kid is dead because he was trained to have a chip on his shoulder, and he chose to relentlessly beat a neighborhood watch capitan that was doing what his neighbors wanted him to do.

By the way, do you live in a neighborhood where people break in and take whatever they want. Self-governance is hard for some to align with. Based on the 911 call, Zimmerman was protecting his and his neighbors property, even to the point of trying to work with the police to do it.

The most disturbing aspect, of controversies regarding race, is that they expose the most rabid of lunatics regardless of perspective!
I don't because Santorum is the only one that can stop Romney at this point from gaining enough delegates to win the nomination.
That being said, Rick seems to be commenting without knowing all the facts in the case. The only comments he ought to be making are about how Obama and the left are trying to stir racial tensions for political gain.

I suppose. And even for self-appointed busybodies. But, even though they say they are never off duty, the fact is, they are off duty for more hours in a week than they are on duty. One sees that in reports from time to time, "an off duty police officer ..."
Doesn't make any difference to analysis of this incident - Zimmerman is not a deputy. He's got the same rights and duties as any other citizen. My only point was that at that moment, he wasn't preoccupying himself with neighborhood surveillance.
Santorum has a foolish uninformed opinion.
We do not need a punk that acts and speaks based on uninformed opinion in the White House; we already have one of those.
Santorum has publicly sided with the Alinskyites, and against an inocent man.
