Gingrich must steps aside. His southern strategy is up in flames placing distant third and fourth in key states.
Working Women. This is a key demographic that Romney leads Santorum followed by a deficit of 11 points, and Gingrich is well way behind by 31 points and is one major reason why Gingrich can neither win the nomination nor the presidency.
Gingrich was the big spoiler in MI where Santorum lost by just three points. Besides the notion of permanent moon-based colonies and pie-in-the-sky $2.50 gas/gallon regardless of world energy markets or geopolitical conditions is simply risible and wont play well with voters. Note, that Gingrich couldnt even get the 50% threshold in home-state GA whereas Romney got a whopping 72% in MA.
If Santorum loses OH, we can attribute this to a divided conservative vote. The big city areas in OH have not yet been counted. Karl Rove thinks that when these county results come in, Romney will have won OH. He (unfortunately) may just be right.
Santorum has won IA; MN; CO; MO; and ND. Today, Santroum has notched up another trifecta: OK, TN, and ND. He came within a whisker of beating Romney in MI, and while he may lose OH it will be only by a coupe of points and Gingrichs 15% would a major factor that explains this fact.
Working women: Category Gingrich Paul Romney Santorum % Total Working women 13 9 44 33 21 All others 14 10 36 39 79
YES - WHAT YOU SAID IN LOTS OF DITTOS!!!
I just hope Newt’s ego will take a back seat to his senses. GO, RICK, GO!!!
With no Conservative candidate(s) to vote for Virginia voters ~ both Democrats and Republicans ~ didn't bother to show up in the open state primary.
Romney cannot attract the party base ~ he should take the Virginia results as a reason to quit running. That's the best he can do on his own with no one else stirring the pot.
“GO SANTORUM GO!”

Since I have been an expat for over ten years, I do not so much have a dog in this hunt, but my friend and neighbor is from PA and he thinks Santorum is GREAT.
I really liked Gingrich during the “contract with America” days, but he is quite tarnished now, even though he may be the smartest guy in the crowd.
I would take just about anyone but Romney.
My only goal is the defeat of the Communist.
Oh yeah - Romney and his Romneycare is more fiscally conservative than Santorum.
Take your fingers out of your ears and remove your blinders and start listening and reading about all of Mitt’s flip-flops, from abortion to gun control to healthcare. AND YOU CAN’T SUPPORT SANTORUM? ARE YOU SERIOUS??????
Even with Santorum’s congressional record (which makes every candidate vunerable), no one that knows him doubts his conservative credentials. No one can say that about Romney with a straight face. You need to wake up!!!
The split vote could cost him tonight like it did in Michigan. As long as there are two conservatives in the race, conservatives will be divided, and that is an advantage for Romney. When the conservative vote is united, Romney loses most times (with the exception of places like Massachusetts).
In Ohio:
Santorum
37.6%
361,976
Romney
37.3%
359,171
No, hell no!
Romney ought to be compelled to withdraw if he can't beat Santorum in Ohio. If he can't carry Ohio now, how can he hope to claim to be able to carry it in November, when we will need it?
Yes, he needs to quit. It’s time.
I would have a very hard decision voting for Santorum over Romney. Both are unrepentant statists. I could vote for Obama and have a statist if that’s what I wanted.
What’s the point of having two parties if they are both going to nominate statists?
Santorum
37.5%
366,013
Romney
37.3%
363,527
Gingrich
14.7%
143,204
MI, WA and OH.
Newt staying in throws the nomination to Mitt.
Gingrich isn’t going anywhere except Tampa.
WY was a tossup. Idaho is the first one that he’ll win that McCain carried.
You're a good example of why its never a good idea to become too invested in any candidate. One stand to lose their marbles.
“Romney cannot attract the party base ~ he should take the Virginia results as a reason to quit running.”
I like that. Why debate the exclusion of Newt or Rick when we really want Romney to quit?
Texas isn’t going Romney. Texas is for Santorum after his showing in OK and in TN tonight.
Santorum’s doing very well in OH - but there’s 15 percent of ‘conservatives’ that we could use right now when battling Mitt.
But I guess it’s more important to let Mitt win then see a different conservative take it.
