CHUCK NORRIS: Why I chose Newt over Santorum
WND.COMMENTARY ^ | : 7 days ago | Chuck Norris

Posted on 02/19/2012 10:12:12 AM PST by PSYCHO-FREEP

In 2008 when my wife, Gena, and I were on the campaign trail backing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for president, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was fighting to get former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney elected.

Just three years ago in his interview with radio host and conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, Santorum also emphatically told millions of listening Americans: “If you’re a conservative, if you’re a Republican, there is only one place to go, and that’s Mitt Romney.

Yet Santorum now admits that Romney “bragged he’s even more liberal than Ted Kennedy on social issues.”

And the question that keeps coming to my mind now is this: How can the “alternative to Romney” also be a Romney supporter? (SNIP)

However, in light of the potential global clash outside our country with regimes like Iran and Syria, and the ongoing domestic assault within our country from the Obama administration, we believe America needs the best of the best veterans of political war to lead us forward.

We truly believe Newt’s experience, leadership, knowledge, wisdom, faith and even humility to learn from his failures (personal and public) can return America to her glory days. And he is the best man on the battlefield who is able to outwit, outplay and outlast Obama and his billion-dollar campaign machine.

(SNIP)

It’s no wonder in January that Rep. Ron Paul accused Santorum of having a “very liberal” political record.

I’m also bringing this up now because, if Santorum were to win the nomination, Obama will definitely bring this up in his campaign for the presidency.

And the question that keeps coming back to my mind about Santorum is: How can the “alternative to Romney” also be a Romney supporter?

Newt's endorser wishes he could be Santorum's endorser...

...think I'll go with the real one.

Newbie, the rules here do not permit cross threading. Maybe you should read the rules. Since you seem completely ignorant of them. In short what happened on another thread stays on that thread. And if you do not believe me I can ask a mod to explain it to you.

So this is it? This picture and a suggestion of global warning would prevent you from voting for a candidate that can remove a Marxist from the oval office? Romney is tanking, Santorum will either tank now or in November. Newt can get this done!

Newt said yesterday at a campaign stop, “Liberals love the Volt because you can’t put a gun rack on it!!”

Yep, the only reason we’re doing it is because the kook hasn’t a chance of getting the nomination. Otherwise we’d sit it out, since there’s no primary write-in option.

Couldn’t help but LOL at the visual on Rick giving Chuck a “nice roundhouse kick”.

In a long history of unwise actions, that would be Rick’s last one for a loooonng while. Maybe by the time Rick recovered, we could have someone in the White House with a Plan. That would be Newt.

Newt is Chuck’s candidate because Chuck’s mind is as developed, fit and sound as the rest of him. He’s a great Patriot!

Newt has way too much baggage to win.

The position of Massiah has already been filled by Jesus.

We're electing a leader, not a savior.

I'll vote for flawed, any day. I refuse to vote for repugnant.

Newt is flawed. Mitt is repugnant.

I laughed at that one myself. The thing about those who know Chuck's actual experience in Karate, the sissy priss, little Ricky would not even get a kick started in Chuck's direction, before Chuck would have one of his own, firmly planted between Ricks ears!

You’re right, I’m a newbie. As such, I do my best to respect the rules of FR and not step over the line. Mistakes can be made, however, and if I made one, I apologize. Thank you for the info on cross-threading.

That said, I am also a donating member. Are you? And I know bullcrap when I see it. If I see it from you-—and I have seen little else-—I’ll call you on it.

And I see my post hit a nerve.

True that. I think Norris could take Rick in a debate on the issues, too. He definitely knows the issues, and hence the title of his article.

The depth of a candidate can many times be measured by the depth of their supporters. Guess that explains the lack of depth by so many in the Santorum camp, as illustrated by the ridiculous “round house Kick” remark. I’m still laughin’!

I think you should go back to the thread where you were defending the guy who cooked and ate cats.

On a Michael Vick/animal cruelty thread, he called anyone who didn't like Vick a "skin head."

He must have gotten bit pretty savagely as a child. I feel sorry for him. He doesn't seem to have any friends

LOL! Hang in there kiddo’ us old farts have your back! You are doing just great. Just don’t let yourself get roped into getting mad and saying or doing something that might get you in trouble. Which is what that one is all about in the first place.

Yeah, I know they are doing it now; I said lib or conservative.

The insults to our freedoms get worse by the day, and with each one that Americans sit by and allow, I get more and more doubtful that tyranny will be stopped. I think, sadly, that most people just don't care.

In a battle for the future of this country, will I trust a giant brain to outwit our opponent, or will I go with the annoying twit in the sweater?

Giant brain, every time. :)

There was a certain paleo-lunatic called "Dane" whose apparent goal in life was to bait newer FReepers into crossing the line in order to get them banned.

Don't sweat the losers. Sooner or later they're the ones that cross the line and get themselves banned.

“Santorum is more loyal to the GOP Establishment and the “Republican” label than to the Tea Party and conservative principles.”

I am NOT an apologist for Santorum. However, I find it very hard to believe he would put politics before his moral beliefs.

Bottom line for me is that I don’t want Romney to respresent the GOP - he scares me on his politics and his Mormonism (IMO) disqualifies him to be POTUS. And I don’t care IF that makes be a religious bigot....that is just a name I will wear gladly.

I am convinced Santorum is a legitimate Moral/Social conservative and he is being real when he speaks on these issues....even if it hurts him. However, I also think Newt has shifted to being a moral/social conservative as well. I believe either man, if elected, would reverse some of the social/moral damage done by the Obama administration (AKA homosexuals in the military, etc.).

Personally, although I am a social/moral conservative primarily and would naturally support Santorum first. I have weighed the totally of the American situation and I believe that Gingrich, at this time, would be the better “overall” pick for the GOP to face Obama. I know Rick’s supporters will consider me inconsistent.

Be that as it may, I would be content with either Gingrich or Santorum at the top of the ticket and get ticked when Newt’s supporters trash Santorum and when Rick’s supporters trash Gingrich. Enough is enough. ROMNEY and OBAMA are the enemies of conservatives. Romney first because he is an impediment to either Newt or Rick being the nominee. Of course Obama is an enemy of all that is conservative.

Anyway I’m SICK OF THE FIGHTING BETWEEN the supporter’s of NEWT AND RICK. It needs to stop. So, when I see Newt supporters attacking Rick I protest, and visa versa.

I would really like to see a Gingrich/Santorum ticket. Which I think would be ideal...but flipping it to Santorum/Gingrich would be OK as well. However, ANYTHING that has Romney on it...even as veep...will NOT get my vote.

Folks both Newt and Rick have faults and strengths. It is time to unite not divide.

Wrong, your post hit no nerve, I was calling you on your second attack on the thread, about someone making a statement about doofus perry, thread is not about perry. Next time I will just ping the mod. And the question about donations is another violation of the rules. Since that is between me and the owner.
