‘We the People’ Loses Appeal With People Around the World
The New York Times ^ | 2/06/2012 | ADAM LIPTAK

WASHINGTON — The Constitution has seen better days.

Sure, it is the nation’s founding document and sacred text. And it is the oldest written national constitution still in force anywhere in the world. But its influence is waning.

In 1987, on the Constitution’s bicentennial, Time magazine calculated that “of the 170 countries that exist today, more than 160 have written charters modeled directly or indirectly on the U.S. version.”

A quarter-century later, the picture looks very different. “The U.S. Constitution appears to be losing its appeal as a model for constitutional drafters elsewhere,” according to a new study by David S. Law of Washington University in St. Louis and Mila Versteeg of the University of Virginia.

Note to Adam Lip-dick, I don't give a rats ass what others around the would think of our Constitution. It is one of the greatest pieces of work ever written. Maybe our current administration should read it and find out what it says.

Maybe if our government actually lived up to the Constitution, then everyone else would see how great it is.

Pure claptrap, which is why the Slimes printed it. I really hate liberals and I'm sick of their propaganda. The sooner we get down to business and take this Country back, the happier I'll be.

We need to pay for anyone that wants to rescind their citizenship and pay to move them to any other country that they want to move to and live under any constitution that they wish to live under... but we need to make certain they they can never set foot in America again... including that slut for satan that sits on the SCOTUS... the old one that is wrinkled and smells bad.

Many people in the world have never read the US Constitution; in fact MOST US Congressmen have never read the US Constitution.

What foreigners judge us on, is how our president acts, what our national policies are, and how we, as the US conduct ourselves both in international affairs, as well as domestic affairs.

Given our current Narcissist in Chief - one can certainly see why other countries must feel that our founding document is flawed; as they see his actions, hear his words and see our economic flaws - and believe he to be operating within the confines of the US Constitution, or behaving in accordance with the spirit of this document. So, I can certainly understand why they see it as worthless - because our Congressmen and President are certainly worthless.

In a television interview during a visit to Egypt last week, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the Supreme Court seemed to agree. “I would not look to the United States Constitution if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012,” she said. She recommended, instead, the South African Constitution, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms or the European Convention on Human Rights.

Just imagine how much more she would hate our Constitution if we actually followed it, especially the constantly ignored 10th amendment. If it were obeyed, 2/3 of the federal government would disappear instantly.

Our State Department doesn’t think much of it, either. SEE the Iraqi Constitution, a Paul Bremner joint.

“The U.S. Constitution appears to be losing its appeal as a model for constitutional drafters elsewhere,”

If our government followed it, it would be a beacon of hope to the World. It is the idiots who subvert it with this sort of crap, especially the meme that 'it's too old' or 'it's not popular' instead of calling for our government to get back in line who are half of the problem.

“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the Supreme Court seemed to agree.”

Now we see clearly how some of those decisions have come out of the left side of the court. Seems to me if one says they support constitutions over our own, the one they swear to uphold, they are in violation of their oath of office and need be replaced.

Senate hearing for Ginsburg: here is a copy of the constitution, do you hold it is the supreme law of the land and you will support and defend it? No. OK, we move to immediate impeachment trial. The “no” response is sufficient to remove...good bye Ruthie, and don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Next, bring in Sotomayer and get Kagan ready.

The Constitution is what made America Great...

The Government ignores large parts of the Constitution now and American is a declining nation.

No wonder other nations are not looking at the Constitution as a guideline.

Well, for those who actually read the article, it’s actually the NYSlime’s way of criticizing the U.S. Constitution for not guaranteeing health care, food and jobs. IOW’s, for the Constitution’s lack of ever expanding rights, if you get what I mean.
