In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.
Encomium
Noun
1. Warm, glowing praise.
2. A formal expression of praise; a tribute.
pl. encomiums or encomia (-m-)
[Latin encmium, from Greek enkmion (epos), (speech) praising a victor, neuter of enkmios, of the victory procession : en-, in; see en-2 + kmos, celebration.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

I’d never heard that meemaw stuff until I was an adult, and it actually makes my teeth itch-we always said gradma and grandpa...
warm...just like meconium...lol
GG is for GreatGrandma......you will just be a grandma.
Sheldon’s mom is a hoot, isn’t she? We had a GM named “Gay” short for Gaygie because the first grandchild couldn’t pronounce Grammy. We were quite indignant when the homosexuals co-opted our grandmother’s term of endearment.
I saw on Fox that Obama was selling his newest housing scam in Falls Church-did you happen to hear if it cause4d a traffic jam?
A+++ I heard him for a few minutes.....he is clueless.......his initial buyout didn’t work so pour more money into that bottomless pit.
I went to the movies this afternoon......One for the Money...I came home happy and cheerful. I loved the book, made me laugh, the movie did, too. Not a great movie, but a solid chic flick. Better than the reruns of theO’s speech.
Mmm, beef stew in the crockpot. Dinner smells yummy.
perfect.
Thank you! I did not listen to the idiot’s speech-I went for a second walk in the woods, on a different path than the one I took earlier this morning. I found a sage bush blooming under some oak and cedar trees along the path and cut a few sprigs to put in my smudge bundles, so not a wasted trip.
I’m going to grill some chicken leg quarters for dinner-I just made a salad to go with them.
They had Sheldon’s twin sister in one episode as well. All the guys were trying to get with her cause she was pretty attractive.
What time was that bc I got home w/ no trouble. Doesn’t it just figure that he’d go to those jack@$$ earth watchers in falls church with that BS!
I think it was about 10am my time. On my way out the door, I heard he was going to be shoveling that s*** in Falls Church, and it seemed like a bad choice-I can’t imagine there are too many people in an elite, vegan lunch bar, Birkenstock wearing area like that concerned about making their house payments. It sounded as dumb as if he had decided to make the pitch at Starbucks or Whole Foods in the Quarry Market in Alamo Heights in SA...
I saw a daffodil in bloom in the woods during my run this afternoon.
Besides the ceniza/sage, there were some of those little white wood anemones blooming in the leaf-and-needle-mold on the forest floor-they are so delicate and small, they just blend in unless you are looking right at them.
Most people buying timeshares can afford the purchase price, though few “save money” on the real vacations thay actually take.
But very, very few people buying timeshares can really afford the yearly Encomiumdium fees that continuously add up.
Hmmmph. I need to be more careful with my tool choice whilst in the kitchen.
St Ronnie is working late at school (again!) tonight, and she called to remind me to softenup the steak before putting it in the oven to cook.....
Darn thing really gets squished flat when you flatten it with a 2 pound rubber hammer.
Oh yeah, what is a “smudge bundle?” Sounds like a bunch of newspapers that got ruined on the press.
Ouch, Robert! You men-MrT5 always thought a rubber hammer was a tool for all occasions...
No,no-it is dried sprigs of aromatic plants like sage, cedar, etc bound tightly into bundles with twine. You light one like incense and burn it while saying prayers to ask God and the saints to purify or protect a room or any other space from evil, or for a special prayer for a blessing-that is called “smudging”. I smudge my home on a regular basis-I think it is a Hispanic/Native thing.
yeah but it is full of LIBS and so they are of course concerned for the POOO-er as Rush calls them. Falls Church is the ideal place because they love his little pansy @$$ there still.
Oh sure - but if I say ‘pooper,’ I have to hear all about it....
