In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.
Encomium
Noun
1. Warm, glowing praise.
2. A formal expression of praise; a tribute.
pl. encomiums or encomia (-m-)
[Latin encmium, from Greek enkmion (epos), (speech) praising a victor, neuter of enkmios, of the victory procession : en-, in; see en-2 + kmos, celebration.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

The latest unemployment figures were an unexpected encomium for Obama’s leadership.
Thanks to Jack for today’s word.
Now take your seats, homework on my desk .........it’s WEDNESDAY, Hump Day!
a tenth of a percent, whoop-di-do! did O take a victory lap?
A+
Rewards proportionate to the achievement prompt future efforts, provided such encomiums do not rise from personal partiality or mere flattery.
Are you offering Mitt that tar-like substance babies poop out for the first 2 days of their lives? Cause that is all I got for him!
Wow. They had no biz supporting the abortion industry to begin with. A+++
I don’t expect to read any encomium offered from the owner of this website for Romney’s win last night. Of course, my heart is sill with Santorum, so the results of yesterday’s primary elicit a big yawn from me.
My total commitment to Mitt is to say “Job well done.” I am withholding my vote at this point in time.
We had quite the discussion at the station last night, only pubbies there. NO ONE liked any of the candidates, but we agreed on one thing, come November it’s ABO. You should have heard the rage at the lousy selection we have. They wanted an DC outsider who shared their wrath with DC. No one like that is out there.
Mitt is the only one with deep enough pockets to pull that one out of the toilet. If he had real competition he would be buried.
ha! so they started feeling the effects of the shun? good.
I am no Romney fan......I loved Newt on his rants during the debates......not sure of much else. My dream candidate does not exist, but I do like Rick. A++
Haiku! A+++
i am so agnostic about our primary candidates that i didn’t even look to see who had won yesterday, just watched the Caps lose last night and went to bed. ABO gets my vote, and i imagine that our candidate will have been decided by Super Tuesday, when VA votes. my 17 yo got her voter registration card this week and took a pic and posted it on Facebook, she was so proud. She cannot wait to vote against the Obams. She will be 18 in July and so long as you are turning 18 by the gen election you are permitted to vote in the primary though you may still be under age 18.
And maybe someone finally got through to them that their donations were fungible. Let’s see if the Girl Scout cookie ban has the same effect over the next few years.
he retreaded that SOTU....nothing new to offer. just more socialism.
A++
I bought NO girl scout cookies this year. bah, humbug to them.
