In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.
Encomium
Noun
1. Warm, glowing praise.
2. A formal expression of praise; a tribute.
pl. encomiums or encomia (-m-)
[Latin encmium, from Greek enkmion (epos), (speech) praising a victor, neuter of enkmios, of the victory procession : en-, in; see en-2 + kmos, celebration.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

can you believe it??????
Your newest fan club...!
That is a great poster!
did you mean endcomium? A+++
Our discussion at the station was interesting. They said they DO NOT want to see the candidates attack each other, only OBAMA.....this is a trial run for them as to who can take him down and none of them are focused on the ‘bams himself...his policies......what will they DO if elected to fix things. They want the details and they are fighting mad. They think none of these clowns get how serious it is. We had visitors from other departments so the conversation was even more of a sampling of views. No dems were present.
And mine will be in middle school next year.
and you will have grandchildren before you know it!!!!
she’s growing up while you are in Mexico!
It is true isn’t it, that time flies? I still can’t believe I have a daughter marrying in the fall and a son in college.
Bite your tongue! lol
oh but what a youthful MEEMAW you will be! LMAO!!!
Thanks. I’m flattered.
GiGi, actually. lol I will welcome grandchildren in time, but she needs to get moved closer to me and save some money first. The GiGi thing started one day when she asked what I would want to be called as a grandmother. I said anything except MeeMaw - that is just not my thing. She laughed and said Gigi. My husband gave us both a dirty look and said we will be Grandma and Grandpa. lol
My guys are pretty tough customers - lol
I developed a dislike for United Way when I worked at MHMR many years ago-they actually used to have a huge meeting once a year with people there from UW to shill for all the employees to sign for a monthly payroll deduction to their organization-when I read the list of causes they support/ give money to, I said “no”, and that has never changed.
MeeMaw must be a southern thing. Sheldon Cooper has one, and he’s from Texas.
We just had grammies and grannies growing up. Some hunkies have nanas.
GiGi, what are ya FRENCHIE??? LOL!
Is your son old enough for my (sometimes) adult humor?
the fog is lifting and the4 sun is shining-and there is still no work until next week-
In his consuming need for encomium
Obama promises still more bread
And circuses to the nameless “poor”
Who are in need of jobs instead
Still another fix for homeowners
Though the first two didn’t work-
No job means no money, no payment-
Does that fact escape this jerk?
Some people are not “upside down”
On a house that cost too much-
They just need work and a paycheck
Not some emperor who is out of touch
