Was it at last year’s SOTU that he insulted them to their faces?

I think he insulted the Justices in 2010. Some of them stayed away last year, as a result, and evidently this year, too.

Surprised but pleased if CJ Roberts isn’t there. He has always bent over backwards to be cordial to even hateful leftists. Perhaps last year’s insult to his face, at what is supposed to be a nice ceremony of togetherness, was too much for even Roberts.

According to Fox News, Roberts and four other justices planned to attend:

There are 440 permanent seats in the House chamber. But for tonight, they are bringing in about 90 additional seats. Expected are seven representatives from the Joint Chiefs of Staff, 22 Cabinet-level officials and five Supreme Court justices, including Chief Justice John Roberts.

The 2012 election is in the hands of SCOTUS.

Roberts was standing next to Kennedy smiling. I guess you have no way of correcting. It was reported in the papers today that Alito, Scalia, Thomas would not be there.

I did not see Sotomayer.
