Peggy came home with all kinds of gifts and good eats that she was gifted with for her last day at work. One was a pristine - in the box - die cast replica (model) of Sam Walton’s 1978 Ford 150 pick up truck. It had never been opened. We pulled it out of the box and it was encased in a plastic housing and had a small bag of Ol’Roy dog food and the dog Ol’Roy and a couple of other items I did not recognize in the bed of the truck. I told her to just put it all back in the packaging as it came.
Anyone know about this Truck?

There are plenty of new seed catalogues here to read and look through~~perfect for long dark evenings! If the winter continues not much colder than it has been, we could be as little as 6-7 weeks away from the very first flowers!

You are looking at a very rare, never sold publicly die cast truck. It is an aged version replica of Sam Walton's 1979 Ford Pick Up Truck. This is similar to the condition of the truck Sam drove until the day he passed. He never purchased a new car. This truck has a tool box and a dog kennel transport box with opening kennel doors. The tailgate and doors open as does the hood - revealing a very detailed engine. I'm told by a good source that there was less then 100 of these produced. These were produced for a fund raiser and only one or two were issued to selected Wal-Marts stores around the world. Only employees could place bids on this model and of course the highest bidder would win it. The scale is 1:24th. It measures out at 9" Length x 3.5" Width x 3" Height. Manufactured by JTC Fine Collectibles.

Less than 100? ‘Somewhat rare’ describes it to ‘t’...

Those trucks are between $200 and $300 on eBay. There are several listed. It is really cute with the dog and dog food!

The internet catalogs may get you in trouble, but there is something to be said to curling up in a chair with a cup of coffee (or hot chocolate) and a gardening catalog, dreaming about sprouting seeds and spring. If we get over our 70 degree weather, I’ll try it out. :)

"Just harvested the last bushel of carrots in up-state NY!"I am sooooo jealous. Those store-bought carrots don't hold a candle to fresh from the garden.

I drove a 1979 F-150 (white) for many many years at work. I really liked that truck. It had an inline 6 300ci engine, manual stick shift. It was very easy to work on.

I hope that all of your garden planning reaps bushels this year! Haven’t gotten into the Jung’s catalog yet, but Shumway’s has me totally captivated. I love the old-timey look to it, as well as the excellent varieties available.

Why does it not surprise me that y'all are totally organized and ready for the transition??? Tell Peggy that all of my good thoughts and wishes are with her in her new store, and also that we once again enjoyed that special Christmas ornament and just placed it back in the tissue paper and box until next year.
We are enjoying some outstanding weather here too, although the ground is pretty soggy from all the rain. Looks like a cool front coming and I'm hoping for some good hunting weather.
Enjoy your week!
