Grapevine police investigate the scene where they found seven people dead outside Dallas in Grapevine, Texas, Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011.

Four women and three men who police believe to be related were found apparently shot to death, and authorities said they believe the shooter is among the dead.

Six members of a Texas family apparently opened Christmas presents just before a relative dressed as Santa Claus showed up, opened fire and killed them before killing himself, police said Monday.

Grapevine police spokesman Sgt. Robert Eberling said the shooter showed up in the Santa outfit shortly before gunfire erupted and was a member of the family.

They found four women and three men, aged 18 to 60, dead. A motive for the shootings remains unclear.

“It appears they had just celebrated Christmas. They had opened their gifts,” Grapevine Police Sgt. Robert Eberling said Sunday, adding that the apartment was decorated for the holiday, including a tree.

Jose Fernandez, a 35-year-old heavy equipment mechanic who moved to the complex with his family about six months ago, said he always felt safe in the area, but is now afraid to let his 10-year-old son play freely outside.

I had planned to stop at “he opened his gifts and then he opened fire.”

I have absolutely no idea what this means or where you read this quote.

This is the link to the story and the Girl is on there saying the
19-year old was Iranian and Muslim. So that makes the family what, AMISH?

You may want to watch it before they change that also. They edited the TV story already.

Meanwhile, family friends say they will never understand what caused Yazdanpanah to kill his entire family. "I don't honestly believe that the dad could have done this because he was a good person," Allison Baum said.

He was a good person!

lol...Like I said, I had no idea Muslims celebrated Christmas.

They not only celebrated Christmas, but the Dad dressed up like Santa, then shot the all to death, Muslim style!

Wow

Yeah . . . good person my a**.

Really sucky situation. Not a family from which I know anyone (so far) — and no clients involved. Really glad that he decided to do this when school was out of session — no kids on the practice fields (which are literally right outside the window).

Append keyword “sourcetitlenoturl”
A.A. Cunningham

Knock it off with the keyword spamming. The title does match the article at the source.

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Police said the shooter, identified by other sources as Aziz Yazdanpanah, was dressed as Santa Claus before opening fire on Christmas Day.

Aziz Yazdanpanah... Russian, Pakistani, India? Iran?

Just speculation, but was it possible he didn't like his family celebrating Christmas so he shot them all to death, while wearing a Santa outfit?

wow...

From the WFAA article....."Neighbors said Yazdanpanah and his wife, Fatemeh Rahmadi, separated months ago when she moved into the Grapevine apartment where the shooting took place.

The couple's oldest daughter — 19-year-old Nona Yazdanpanah — was a Tarrant County College student who had just graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School along with her best friend, Allison Baum.

"It was just family issues, just typical family issues," Baum said. "The mom and dad didn't get along. The dad was never violent, never did anything to hurt them. He loved his kids and he was a good dad."

Dozens of friends posted messages of condolence on Nona's Facebook page.

"I've written on her Facebook wall as kind of a memorial thing, but my immediate reaction was to text her — even though I knew she wouldn't answer," Allison Baum said.

At Coldwater Creek Spa in Southlake, employees told News 8 Fatemeh Rahmadi had not shown up for work, causing alarm, because she had never once been late in the four years she worked there. They feared the worst.

Meanwhile, family friends say they will never understand what caused Yazdanpanah to kill his entire family.

"I don't honestly believe that the dad could have done this because he was a good person," Allison Baum said.

The Colleyville home where Aziz Yazdanpanah lived had been foreclosed on more than a year ago.

I’m wondering the same thing. I’m sure there will be lots of speculation — and I doubt we’ll ever know the entire story. My daughters just went to the coffee shop near there and they said it is inundated with news vans! Craziness.

I think these were the first murders in Grapevine this year (we usually have 1 I think — not a big high crime area). I wonder how badly this will skew our stats for the next few years :/ I can only recall one other thing similar to this — I think it was in the 80s when a man killed his wife and daughter, and then himself on the day they were supposed to move — something about bankruptcy and moving back to Indiana. They lived on Brookshire in Grapevine (only know because it was a street away from me and then my mom ended up with the real estate listing).

This really is a good place to live — I swear! The Christmas Capital of Texas thing is huge here — lots of lights, lots of fun silliness with the Polar Express train, and the Gaylord hosting Ice. Just hate to see my hometown splashed across the worldwide stage attached to such a negative story!

The mom and dad didn't get along.

Understatement of the year.

The dad was never violent, never did anything to hurt them. He loved his kids and he was a good dad.

Yep, I've heard this a few times.

Thanks for the link.

A brutal sad story

I figure that Santa knowing his plans and knowing that couldn’t take it with him, spent all his dough on expensive gifts, which helped open the doors of the house. There must be treasures there!

Why would Muslims be opening presents on Christmas?

It's part of what Mooselimbs do to pose themselves as authentic Americans. Taqiyya is a key tenet of Mohammedanism.

Well, mylife, I guess neither of us is surprised one iota about what happened at this apartment complex described as a "United Nations" by one of the Mexican neighbors. Yep, the ROP is up to its usual charm offensive.
