Based on FR, you have to eliminate Bachmann, Romney, Gingrich, Perry, Santorum, Huntsman, and Paul (and Cain and Palin won’t be drafted).
So whoever is left will be the candidate!
Newt....maybe Mitt....who knows....
But if the GOP goes RINO...the party and the country will be destroyed
The MSM will tear the survivor to shreds! The Nanny state will buy into it. We are so scr@wed!
What Yorlick803 said.
I still think I’d put my money on Romney if I had to bet, but that’s looking less and less certain every day.
His stammering response in the debate last night when he was asked to specify which of Newt’s policy ideas he opposed exposed him as the intellectual lightweight he really is. It takes a lot to shake Romney off of his carefully maintained “Presidential” demeanor, but Newt is doing it.
The GOP has gone RINO. 2012 will be a repeat of 2008: RINO, Marxist, and third party.
I suggest going for the downstream candidates.
First I wanted Bachmann. She proved to be a disaster so I took a good long look at Perry. He too I found wanting. Herman Cain stole my heart for a time and thanks to Mitt and his dirty pool, Herman is gone.
I think that the nominee will be Newt.
See tagline.
I have NEVER pulled a straight Republican ticket, but this time it is certain.
So far, it’s all been about polls.
There are a lot of votes yet to be cast.
My gut tells me Perry will overcome his difficulties and rise to the top.
The way I see it our choices are....
1) mcromney, communist lite
2) mcgrinchrich, socialist lite
3) mcperry, the bushes 4th term
4) bachman, mcromneys puppet
5) ron paul, enough said
6) santorum, who??????
7) huntsman, who??????
looks like daffy duck gets my vote... no more mccandidates...
Frankly I don't trust either Newt or Mitt, but of the two I'd have to say Newt. All I know is whoever it is I'm not staying home because he isn't conservative enough. We've got to get this usurper out. I'm with Beck, this election is truly the last exit ramp off the course we're on.
Hard to predict right now. But if some of the candidates are chicken to stand up to Donald Trump, it makes you wonder how they would stand up to Putin, Castro, Assaad, Kim Jong Ill, Hugo Chavez, Aminajad??? Should give us something to think about.
Newt.
That’s the answer to your question.
I think it’s quite possible we will see a brokered convention, and someone not in the race now selected.
So here it goes:
1. To be truly successful, a candidate must be intelligent, fast on their feet, and able to not only articulate a message in such a way that it cuts through the media filter.
2. The candidate must be able to handle a hostile media.
3. The candidate needs to be politically savvy and have a network. The smartest most conservative person is worthless, if they have to rely on the GOP to flesh out their cabinet, as they'll be left with a RINO bureaucracy that has no loyalty.
With these things in mind we then look at ideology, which is NOT a dirty word. We want a POTUS that is as conservative as possible, while meeting 1-3.
Up until now, I have been watching the field, but I think the choice is no Newt. He's the smartest guy on the stage and he knows how Washington works. So let me get straight to his problems, as I know some of you are already headed fore the “reply” button.
1. Newt has had personal fidelity failures. OK, fine, I'm not hiring him as a camp counselor or having him escort my wife to a party. So that's not a dis-qualifier.
2. Newt has ethics issues in the past. I remember those issues and thought the charges were a crock at the time, so I'm not bothered by them.
3. Most troubling, Newt has a tendency to be like the Tom Cruz character in the movie “A Few Good Men” who was prone to decide and broker the outcome without a fight. This is my #1 problem with Newt. But I'm left hoping that as POTUS, he will find his muse to go for the throat every time.
Whoever our next POTUS is, the economy will get worse, much worse, as we have crossed the Rubicon of insane borrowing.
>> After the dust settles, whom do you believe will be the one.
Of the ones left standing: I hope for Perry — overall I think he’d make the best *President*, if not the best *candidate* for President.
But I’m a practical man so my money’s on Gingrich to get the nod, and I can live with him as POTUS although he’s not my first choice.
as unixfox said: pulling the lever for (R) this go-round is a foregone conclusion.
It will be a man who has put on his country’s uniform and loves the land and the people. He has a great sense of humor and can laugh at himself. He looks healthy and alive. He can govern and make the country proud again. He’ s a proven winner. He has been all the things we once cherished in our beloved country....from Boy Scout to college student....to military member....husband....father. A smile without a wagging finger is something I look forward to. It’s ok that he isn’t a slick talker. Seeing a mind working appeals to me....even if the snapshots make you look like a healthy idiot. It’s ok with me.
It’s these kind of questions that damns the Tea Party into obscurity.
You need to ask, “Who will be the conservative candidate that you vote for?”
For me, it’s Michelle Bachmann.
I have no idea. I have a suspicion that whoever it is they will be a rino.
And for me, this time around, dem, rino, no difference. The plea that we must have a Republican falls flat anymore. A fat lot of good all our erstwhile Repubs have done us judging by how far down the slippery slope to the brave new future we slipped.
I always thought we had a republic of laws based on the Constitution. And I've always thought the Constitution was almost an inspired piece of work. I think it was John Adams who said that it was generations of Puritan preachers who fought and won the real American Revolution in the hearts and minds of the people long before 1776.
I just cannot see how anyone can say there is much of a difference between Republicans and dems.
So I'm sorry to post a reply not exactly conforming to the question at hand. I guess my answer is that unless whoever it is is an actual republican then they are only a Republican. And Republicans don't impress me much anymore.
p.s. I've voted straight party ticket, Republican, since 1972. My first time in the voting booth, and I had what seemed like an epiphany that Richard Nixon was the only one that could be entrusted with our presidency. I still think so. Even if I would hestitate to buy a used care from him. (well slap my jaws)
