Perry would be 100 times better president than Newt.
And you are correct if Perry announces his VP preference, of West or Palin or Rubio, he would indeed surge.

going to be PERRY/ PALIN !!!! I know Perry has fumbled in debates,
however I believe he IS conservative with a strong faith, my gut feeling is
PERRY/ PALIN. Full disclosure I am a very strong Cain supporter, but
could support PERRY/ PALIN with GLEE!!!!!!

Newt has already mentioned Col. West for VP -
