I love those old treadle sewing machines. I have an old one in my garage. It needs to be refinished and also needs a new cord to turn the wheel.

Someday, I should see what I can do with it.

Great to see you today, DD. How is it going?

Wishing you a great day and a wonderful week.

Thank you for choosing to be a PLUMBER! There are SOME things for which we should call the PROFESSIONALS...Plumbing and Pipe-Fitting (especially for GAS!) fall into that category! :-)

How are you feeling these days? Still praying for you.

We are without excuse ...

We are inspired to love and tell others.

God gave us a path back to Him, in His Word.
... how wonderful is our God!

We have a job to do.

Making dresses without a pattern is a real “art”. You have to visualize what the dress will look like, exploded into component parts, allow for seam allowances and darts, and draw the pieces in your mind!

I wonder if ANYONE can do that nowadays.

Feeling tired but no other symptoms.
Thanks for the rememberances in prayer. It really means a lot to me, especially from cyber-friends.

The Grand parents are more mature, have experienced life , and have wisdom which God had caused us to learn things in line with His Word. We are instructed in the Bible to teach children as we sit at the table, walk by the wayside and morning and evening which covers just about most of the day. The Jewish family does this to a much higher degree than Christians in general. Many feel it is not their responsibility to teach children the word of God,

Father, forgive us our self centered, foolish self interest, and faltering or failing to follow through on our responsibility and commitment to teach our children and youth and brethren your Word. Help us LORD to see the validness of doing so. We leave the children uncovered, unprotected, and untaught. Forgive us and inspire us to change and effect those with whom we come into contact, thank thee for thy grace and healing, in Jesus name, amen.

I’ve always heard that the body needs rest to heal.

I’m so happy to hear that you are doing so well. Get plenty of rest.

You and your family are in my prayers.

If I remember correctly, my Mom drew ‘her’ pattern on an old newspaper before she started cutting the actual material.

I doubt there is anyone alive that can do the things our parents and grandparents did.

I made patterns from newspaper too. But you had to be careful about the ink.

Well, I was also one of the lucky ones with a very talented Mother. She started by working in a couple of factories and became so talented. She started sewing for people at home and could do the pinch pleated draw drapes, beautifully lined, or tie-back curtains if anyone wanted then. She could do slip covers and the harder one, upholstery!

She made some of the dresses I wore to school (mostly summer dresses from cotton material. She made all my evening gowns from my sophomore year to my graduation. I could draw a picture of what I wanted and she would use a pattern that fit me and do all the changes to make the evening dress I wanted. I used to get aggravated because I couldn’t go to the shops and buy an evening gown like my friends did. But on the other hand, my friends loved my gowns and wished that their mother could sew and make their gowns. I guess I didn’t appreciate how lucky I was until I got a little older. It brings tears to my eyes sometimes when I think of how hard she worked.

Mama would go out and measure for a whole house of drapes (for some of the richer folks) and she would tell them how many yards of fabric and lining that they should get. She confided in me as I got older that she was always a bit scared that she would cut a piece of fabric wrong or something like that and that worried her. Its no wonder she had headaches all her life. God Bless Her so much and I will always miss her.

Mom and Dad eventually got able to take an outside garage and make her a wonderful sewing place with large tables to place the material on for pinning and cutting and it made it a lot better for Mama.

I have always disliked sewing. When we were having class reunions, we would sometimes invite certain teachers to attend our reunions. One time I talked to my Home Ec. teacher and asked her why I didn’t even like to sew buttons on, when my Mom was the best seamstress in the world. She said it was probably because I saw my mother killing herself sewing and that I psychologically decided I never wanted to do it. And she was probably right. I can hem a pair of jeans on my machine but I don’t like it and it takes me a long time.

Once again, I have written a book....you all know me....don’t know when to shut up! LOL! There’s a story there, too. I have my report cards from 1st and 2nd grades and every report card said to my Mother, “Jane is a sweet little girl, but she talks too much.” Mother would write back, “I will work with her on this problem.” Every quarter the same information went back and forth and continued through the 2nd grade and I’m not sure about the third grade! Thats why I became a cheerleader because I could talk and scream to the top of my voice!!

Excuse me for talking!
