Reading many, many, comments about Rick Perry it has ocurred to me that a great many FReepers don't really know Rick Perry. They know of him from 30 second blurbs, bad sound bites and poor debate performances.
This is not the real Rick Perry. You can get a much better picture of the man by watching him in one on one interviews, live speeches and town hall settings. Governor Perry has a plan to restore our country to greatness and it's worth hearing. He's got a complete tax reform program, a jobs and energy plan that go hand in hand. He's absolutely right about shrinking the size and scope of the federal government and he knows what he's talking about when he talks of State's Rights! You can find out a lot just by catching youtubes of his speeches.
You can also learn alot about what kind of a solid and patriotic conservative Rick Perry is by reading his book, 'FED UP Our fight to Save America From Washington'. If you can afford to buy the book, I urge you to do so and when you are finished pass it along to someone else who might benefit. If you're not in a position to be buying books at this time, I can certainly understand and I'd like to help. While I'm not in a position to buy a book for everyone who might like one I would like to do what I can. To that end I'll send a book to the first ten FReepers (who aren't already Perry supporters but who are willing to give him their honest consideration) who freepmail me and tell me where to send one. The only thing that I ask is that you actually read the book and then pass it along to someone else. No strings attached and I'll get them on the way ASAP.
AS for the 'info' that Newt cannot survive; think we have already, long known, where his faults lie.
A lot of people don't. FReepers do, but we're an odd breed. Out in the real world there are a lot of folks who have some vague memory about a divorce or something...but they don't follow politics and might even be surprised to have learned recently that Newt's still alive.
But that's his love life history...the Freddie and Fannie stuff and his lobbying for a health care mandate is going to kill him. That couples with his, IMO, reasonable immigration stance. But we'll see.
As for ambitious; think she is quite ambitious; if only 'for' her husband - but surely; not without some self-interest here. And still think; if it just a matter of 'conscience'; then think we should be absolutely clear; 'whose' conscience comes into play; on the big decisions that Presidents must make.
No, but you could send me the money instead?
Uh...let me think about that.
Ok. Thought about it. No.
I said, “if.” I have no reason to believe that Rodriquez has any grudge.
Stephen Wayne Smith: who accused the Governor of only appointing Rodriquez because he is Hispanic.
No one is more unhappy about the new Congressional maps than I. However, I didn’t like the Legislature’s much, either, because both split our Comal County.
At least the State Senator map will still let me support and vote for Dr. Donna Campbell against the RINO Jeff Wentworth.
The events that the Governor has laid out about his decision are quite clear. He had been thinking about running, and lots of people had been urging him to run. The decision was made when he and his wife were talking about the state of the Nation and she said it was time for him to get out of his comfort zone and make a difference.
If you are going to bring in wives, I think you should contrast Anita Perry with a couple of other wives of candidates: one who votes and says she’s a Democrat, another who, (worse,in my opinion) slept with a married man and who, rumor has it, required a bribe to go along with her husband’s race.
Amen. Just say no to Perry the nanny statist.
“I said, if. I have no reason to believe that Rodriquez has any grudge.”
Now you are being disinegenuous. YOU brought the grudge thing up, in effect declaring Judge Rodriguez has reasons to have a grudge - against, who? the people of Texas? Because that is who he has seized power from.
“Stephen Wayne Smith: who accused the Governor of only appointing Rodriquez because he is Hispanic.”
Again, you are the one who brought up Smith, who I was entirely unfamiliar with, but are you saying Smith’s accusation (which I seriously doubt was phrased as you put it) against Perry was entirely without merit? Is no one allowed to question the appointment of a gubernatorial appointment with questionable experience? If this Smith made the accusation, and Rodriguez was fully qualified for the position he was appointed to, why don’t you make your case instead of just throwing a sentence out there as if what you just said carries any weight as a stand-alone sentence?
“No one is more unhappy about the new Congressional maps than I. However, I didnt like the Legislatures much, either, because both split our Comal County.”
So, because of some local county re-districting disagreement you have with the legislature, you can’t see the difference between redistricting by the duly-elected legislature and redistricting by Federal Judicial Fiat? Who cares if you didn’t care much for your duly-elected legilatures’ redistricting decision? At least it was done according to the will of the people as reflected through the legislative process!
“At least the State Senator map will still let me support and vote for Dr. Donna Campbell against the RINO Jeff Wentworth.”
Goody for you. Now I suppose you are happy. But I think there are lots of people more unhappy that you about this exercise of judicial tyranny over the people of this state.
Yes, the Congressional map - and especially the State House map - was over-gerrymandered by the Legislature, in my opinion and that of the Texas Eagle Forum ( http://texaseagle.org/component/content/article/332.html “ The new Texas House Redistricting Map pits Republican incumbents against each other as payback for voting against Straus for speaker.”) and others, largely in order to punish enemies of the Speaker and Duncan.
That is nothing.
You should see what a liberal governor can do - like the one here in Colorado.
Hopefully, people will begin to take another look at Gov Perry. If Newt’s the nominee, the dems will be showing his global warming ad with Pelosi. Rick Perry is the only candidate that I trust to get government out of our lives and get our economy thriving again.
Ok. Keep your head stuck in the sand. Your ignoring the fact that Texas is under a judicial tyranny engineered by the foolishness of Rick Perry and George W. Bush does not make it less factual.
Some people don’t even know when they’ve been punked.
As for the 'unnamed'; don't hold much to rumors. As for sleeping with a married man; yep; it happens; they did make it legal, however; and there were no children and so family to impact. And, who knows; perhaps, no real marriage to break up.
Personally, do not care about Newt's personal past. (He has settled down; and has found a religion to call his own.) OTOH; do desperately care, about America's future; and want the 'best minds' on the job; speaking authentically and acting on America's behalf.
Sorry, but I think of Perry as a man who 'approves of this message' rather than writing it; himself.
(that was supposed to read re Newts ‘personals’: ‘no children and so NO family to impact. . .)
Hey that’s excellent lh. (I stealz your pic lol!) Thx for posting!
I agree that we’re under judicial tyranny. I don’t agree that Perry’s appointing Rodriquez to the State Supreme Court in 2001 is the reason.
Then, rather than read a book, watch the supposed “drunk” speech all the way through the 25 minutes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21z30aNO3cA
Or watch the full hour interview with the New Hampshire Union Leader editorial board http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/302377-1#
Will do at least, ‘one’ of those/lol. Promise. That said; you are passionate about Perry candidacy. I am equally so; but for different reason; and for a different candidate.
