Reading many, many, comments about Rick Perry it has ocurred to me that a great many FReepers don't really know Rick Perry. They know of him from 30 second blurbs, bad sound bites and poor debate performances.
This is not the real Rick Perry. You can get a much better picture of the man by watching him in one on one interviews, live speeches and town hall settings. Governor Perry has a plan to restore our country to greatness and it's worth hearing. He's got a complete tax reform program, a jobs and energy plan that go hand in hand. He's absolutely right about shrinking the size and scope of the federal government and he knows what he's talking about when he talks of State's Rights! You can find out a lot just by catching youtubes of his speeches.
You can also learn alot about what kind of a solid and patriotic conservative Rick Perry is by reading his book, 'FED UP Our fight to Save America From Washington'. If you can afford to buy the book, I urge you to do so and when you are finished pass it along to someone else who might benefit. If you're not in a position to be buying books at this time, I can certainly understand and I'd like to help. While I'm not in a position to buy a book for everyone who might like one I would like to do what I can. To that end I'll send a book to the first ten FReepers (who aren't already Perry supporters but who are willing to give him their honest consideration) who freepmail me and tell me where to send one. The only thing that I ask is that you actually read the book and then pass it along to someone else. No strings attached and I'll get them on the way ASAP.
Thanks for the post.. Food for thought. Of all the candidates left, he talks a good game. I sincerely ask, does the state legislation have a lot of liberal leanings? Bush was berated into non existence by the 06 congress’ agenda. Bailouts and so much more were primarily the fault of the pelosi pack. No, he didn’t speak up and do more, but it is a valid point that Libs are thankful for the forgetfulness of Americans. I
I think you’re right. It will be Perry vs Romney in the end.
Happy to say you're wrong!
The thing is Gov Perry is the one that has the experience and the moxie to follow through.
Pro-Life
Pro-Military
Pro-Israel
Pro-2nd amendment
Pro-10th Amendment
He’s against the idea of Cap/Trade and knows Global Warming is a farce
Pro-Business Free-Market
Pro-Drilling
List is not all inclusive. These are the things critical to our survival as a republic.
People scream about his mistakes but if someone doesn’t make some mistakes along the way, that means they are doing nothing at all.
If you think any of the other candidates are going to deport or otherwise handle the illegal immigration problem to your liking (whatever that may be) you are naive. And with all due respect, not informed.
Neither of which should be dismissed as one 'considers'. . .
Have to say; find myself wondering, if Perry's wife wrote this. . .or perhaps, he might have, his own Bill Ayers? But even if he wrote it in longhand; he still seems lacking, IMHO.
/Just feel safer; having our Country in more 'confident' and experienced hands; so to speak. (Given that ours count too, of course.)
. . .and then there IS Perry's wife - ambitious; and perhaps, more the 'mind behind Rick'. Certainly was not impressed as she hit back at Media - on Rick's behalf - in her 'protecting her man' moments. Will she feel need to protect him when he is Prez as well? Worse, will he be able to stop her?
Anyway and 'all to wit'; has me voting for Newt.(HIS policy/promise etc all beautifully (and personally) articulated at his web site; and of course, he has written many books.)/
The Dental benefits were a gift from the Federal Courts, via the latest Frew “agreement.”
“Can’t help that.”
Incomplete sentence. You mean Perry could not have helped that? Yes, he could have. How? By not appointing the unqualified Xavier Rodriguez to the Court of Appeals in the first place, thus enhancing Rodriguez resume and giving him an unwarranted career boost, leading to Rodriguez becoming a federal judge, leading up to Rodriguez teaming up with another federal judge Orlando Garcia on the three-judge-panel, with the two of them overturning the will of the duly-elected Texas legislature, thus treating the people of Texas as if we were still under Reconstruction.
So, yes, Perry could have helped that. You think anyone fell for your bull**** excuses for Perry’s actions?
Anita Perry is more of a guide to conscience and “doing the right thing.” She is not “ambitious.”
You’re entitled to your opinion, of course, but once Cain makes his withdrawal official Gingrich is going to get massacred by the MSM...and they won’t have to make any of it up. Anyone who thinks he can survive the assaults athat are going to be coming his way is going to in for a ig surprise.

Perry doesn’t appoint Federal judges.
He will when he's President.
The appointment of Rodriquez to the Supreme Court of Texas was in 2001 - 10 years ago. I imagine that if the Judge has a grudge, it’s for people like Smith. Smith, by the way, was opposed by every living former member of the Court in 2004, and has become a perennial failed candidate.
Yes, and I’ve been very happy with them. I like Don Willet, especially.

Re-read the post genius.
Rick Perry is the only candidate discussing our energy needs and government over-regulation of the energy industry. Just imagine what our economy would look like if we were free to tap into our own natural resources and if we stopped putting our food in our gas tanks!
So your theory is that Judge Xavier Rodriguez has a grudge against “People like Smith”, and that is why he has seized control of what is supposed to be the prerogative of the people of Texas through their elected representatives? I do not know what this “Smith” you speak of is like. I don’t know what you are claiming “people like Smith” are like. Could you explain?
Absolutely!
There is another point (huge) that wasn’t in that list:
Gov Perry is the enemy of ‘trial lawyers’! :
From The TLR (Texans for Lawsuit Reform) website:
“Home TLR News News ArticlesGov. Perry: Loser Pays Lets Employers Spend Less Time in the Courtroom, More Time Creating JobsOffice of the Governor, May 31, 2011
The following information was released by the office of the Governor of Texas:
Gov. Rick Perry ceremonially signed House Bill 274, which brings important lawsuit reforms to Texas courts, including implementing a loser pays system for frivolous lawsuits in the state. The governor designated this issue as an emergency item for this legislative session. Gov. Perry was joined by Rep. Brandon Creighton and Sen. Joan Huffman for the signing ceremony.
“HB 274 provides defendants and judges with a variety of tools that will cut down on frivolous claims in Texas,” Gov. Perry said. “This important legislation will help make Texas that much more attractive to employers seeking to expand or relocate from countries all over the world by allowing them to spend less time in court and more time creating jobs.”
Gov Perry’s positives far outweigh any negatives...Period.
