Freddie Mercury died 20 years ago today. The Queen singer and songwriter had been secretly battling AIDS for four years, announcing that he had contracted the disease on Nov. 23, 1991, one day before he passed away of AIDS-related bronchopneumonia. He was 45.

Known for his wide vocal range and unparalleled showmanship, the Zanzibar-born Mercury (nee Farrokh Bulsara) also wrote many of Queen’s biggest hits including the six-minute-long rock opus "Bohemian Rhapsody,” sports anthems "We Are the Champions" and “We Will Rock You” and throwback "Crazy Little Thing Called Love.”

You have a pleasant day shopping. Here’s to the hope that whatever gewgaw entrances you today fills the emptiness in your soul, for at least a little while.

I don’t have a soul. Neither do you. It’s a made-up concept. Ciao!

Variations of the word ‘icon’ are really overused these days. And misused, too.

You probaably meant to type Brian May

You are quite correct!! Don't know where "Chris" came from..LOL Yeah, love his guitar playing. Very distinctive...it can be a riff or two on some song you've never heard before but you know right away it's his.

By the time News of the World came out, he was, ...well, not so questionable.

Oh,waaaaay before that.

He mentioned in an interview article at one point early in his "Bo-Rhapsody" days that what he really looked forward to doing sometime was to go shopping with Liza Minelli.

can't figure out why religious people don't notice...

in other words, you can't figure out what is God's will and what isn't. Following His mandates doesn't guarantee a life free of suffering. The world looks pretty darn random and you have to think in circles to keep up this running tab of what is God's will and what is not.

We have thousands of years of people being wrong and misreading reality. It is sometimes described as light but while these signals are like light they are not at all light. Signals of truth are there and they are sometimes clear and sometimes weak. They are also manifestations of reality. Life is a process of experience and detecting these messages or realities. We simply do not have the capability of receiving all signals. This pretty much explains everything. No signal is random. You just can't perceive them all. For example, your memory of your mother is a signal.

Faith is required in order to perceive more signals. And Faith comes from not being able to figure it out.

I’m not sure they had recorded Killer Queen at the time they were opening for ELO. Didn’t that tune come a bit later?

That's a good question. "Killer Queen" was from their 1974 album "Sheer Heart Attack" and charted the same year. I'm not sure when Queen toured with ELO - do you remember?

I believe I saw them in ‘78. I don’t recall hearing Killer Queen, but then, I wasn’t familiar w the band going into the concert and I doubt I would recall, at this point, individual numbers. I actually went to hear ELO because, frankly, I was invited and a guy bought the ticket. ;)

>> Just look at the Catholic church and their endless support of socialism. Christians only ride along for the social issues,..

You speak of things you do not understand. Christianity is not a culmination of the personal anecdotes you’re citing.

Furthermore, the tenets of Conservatism and Christianity are not skewed as you suggest. As an atheist, how could you possibly know?

>> Man created God in his own image.

Ironically, that is your projection of the intellect of others.

The existence of all things is not bound to the limits of the atheist’s imagination.

It might help you to understand Christianity is not a religion.

Fortunately for Magic Johnson, although he is HIV positive, has never contracted full blown AIDS. He has benefited from all of the drug treatments that have been developed over the years. He was not experiencing any symptoms at the time of his diagnosis and was in very good shape. The virus was discovered during a routine team physical.

Magic Johnson announces that he is HIV positive-
