Cowboy Mounted Shooting has a style of its own. Unlike any other Western equestrian sport, this one combines, fashion, leather and guns. No gender in the sport shows it off better than the girls. Growing up, I was frequently told that I could do or be anything. I never heard there was a ceiling beyond which I could not reach. The American Dream was an open door to me, as it was to all Americans. We foster an ideal in this country that each woman is capable of doing anything she sets her mind to.
Equine sports have always been popular with women--and empowerment may play a large role in that. Horses are symbols of power and freedom, and being able to control that, to harness it, direct it, and become friends with that power--its a heady idea. Add a gun to the mix, put on the speed, and amazing things are going to happen.
Handling a gun has changed my whole outlook, says Jana Morris (SL6) of Cave Creek, AZ. Morris had ridden her entire life, but she was afraid of guns, even though they were her husbands passion. Learning to harness and direct that power has had an outlook-changing affect on all kinds of women, and today women make up nearly 50% of the competitors in the sport of mounted shooting.

So how does one go shooting a gun like that in a building full of people, am I missing something here?
The article referenced fashion and style as well as the sport and the gals. If ya read the sentence with a women's style thought in mind, it doesn't come across as feminist pushy.
The language was "shows it off better", not "does it better" as you interpreted it. I think Sarah was emphasizing fashion right there.
Two great things that go great together!
Back when I was a teenager, it wasn’t called “empowerment”; it was called “Do yer damn chores, runt!”.
None of us hillbilly wimmin ever got cut any slack because of chromosomes.
[we were all waiting to go back to the genteel days when the mere thought of calloused hands made us swoon upon our divans]...LOL
First, ya let about 1/4 inch length of your right reign slip through you left thumb to let your partner know what's up, then ya draw your rightmost revolver, cock the hammer, and plug the balloon, repeat 3 & 4 four more times, change guns and repeat five more times.
It helps to load blanks.
Looks like a couple of “Birds Head” Uberti Sixers with a 4.5” barrel....
Thanks - I googled, and found that the horses get earplugs as well as the shooters.
Camo shorts.....I mean, nice revolver!
What? I can hardly hear what you're saying....
Getting her INTO shorts would not be my goal. Just sayin’
Didn’t ketch her flinchin on the empties either.
She can sing, too.
