Top Ten Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time
big hollywood ^

Posted on 11/20/2011 8:47:17 AM PST by Perdogg

It’s been almost two years since I posted at Big Hollywood regarding the Top 10 Most Overrated Directors of All Time. I’ve had a chance to reflect and think about the crimes I committed in that post. And, to paraphrase Mr. Eko from the greatest TV show of all time, “Lost,” I ask no forgiveness because I have committed no sin … except leaving Spike Lee and Tim Burton off the list, that is.

So, because you all enjoyed that list so much, and because I apparently have a death wish, it’s time for another: The Top 10 Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time

(Excerpt) Read more at bighollywood.breitbart.com ...

Looks pretty good to me. His top overrated actor and actress are hard to argue with.

Boy, does this guy ever suck.

The only way I can figure he gets work is that he has some porn tapes on some casting director.

Surprisingly, it’s a pretty good list.

“his Dr. Leo Marvin in What About Bob is sensationally accurate.”

An Oscar worthy performance indeed.

I’m glad my favorite actor was not on the list. That would be Burl Ives.

Agree. Streep is the worst and is so bad I felt compelled to click on this thread to make sure her name was mentioned. Thanks.

Before even reading the list I can tell you numbers 1-10: Meryl Streep. It is amazing she has stayed as thin as she has with all the scenery she has chewed up over the years. The word “overrated” is underrated for her over the top “acting.”

I can’t believe Julia Roberts didn’t make that list. All that skeleton has going for her is a mass of hair, a big rubbery grin, and long skinny legs. She was okay in Steel Magnolias but I could have gone without ever seeing her again after that.

I don’t much care for movies at all and so don’t have much of a frame of reference, but I have to disagree about Jack Nicholson. I loved him in “A Few Good Men” and thought it was one of the best performances ever.

I would add Julie Roberts.

Jack Nicholson was terrific as Buddy Rydell in ‘Anger Management’, with Adam Sandler.

No Brando? Apparently, the rater missed Teahouse and Sayonara—not to mention Streetcar and Waterfront. The most over-rated ham in all of filmdom. (And don’t tell me about Godfather!)

"You must be a guy."

Guilty as charged. But seriously, his courtroom monologue in "The Fountainhead" could have been SOOOO much better. He did well enough in "Sgt. York" but was pretty weak in "High Noon"...just one man's opinion.

What was funny..as I’m scrolling down the list..they’re all men..so I thought he was doign separate lists for mena nd women..then I see Meryl treep..so I’m asking myself..is he suggesting that she’s a sort of “male” actor.

The one I think is really over-rated is Faye Dunaway. I don’t think that woman could act her way out of a paper bag. She wears clothes great though, she should have been a model. Like our pres, Barack Obama should have been a fashion model, if he’d gotten his ears done he could have been one of the greats.

The best actors are either Jean Claude Van Dam or Chuck Norris.

Yep - whenever the subject of "bad actor" comes up, the first name that leaps to mind is always Chuck Norris.

Who can stand the smarmy little Lib but: his Dr. Leo Marvin in What About Bob is sensationally accurate.

Yes! That is the first thing I thought of when I saw somebody mention Dreyfuss.
And by the way, Bill Murray was also excellent in that movie.

One person’s “amazing” is another’s “worst ever” I suppose. Maybe when you look at someone’s acting, you look for ACTING. I prefer someone to not point out with every calculated gesture he/she is ACTING.

Different strokes...
