Its been almost two years since I posted at Big Hollywood regarding the Top 10 Most Overrated Directors of All Time. Ive had a chance to reflect and think about the crimes I committed in that post. And, to paraphrase Mr. Eko from the greatest TV show of all time, Lost, I ask no forgiveness because I have committed no sin except leaving Spike Lee and Tim Burton off the list, that is.
So, because you all enjoyed that list so much, and because I apparently have a death wish, its time for another: The Top 10 Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time

. The word overrated is underrated for her over the top acting.

Watching Streep act is just that, watching Streep act. She is so over the top and exaggerated in her roles that she just makes me cringe.
I liked the Razor’s Edge with Bill Murray.
I agree with most of the other choices.
Nah, Bosom Buddies.
I could agree with you on this one two. She was a great pin up though...
I wasn’t aware she even had a brother.
Damon and Affleck to expand the list.
Oh yes, Garbo was bad. In Ninotchka, she was playing a robotic bolshevik, so that was fine. Everything else — horrible.
But still, Olivier was in a class all his own. Played Heathcliff like he’d had a double lobotomy. Never to be surpassed or forgiven.
“Damon and Affleck to expand the list.”
Ah yes, by all means! Good choices!
If you liked Up in the Air, you might try "Intolerable Cruelty." I thought he was very good in that one too, and Catherine Zeta Jones is a one woman fashion show. A very friendly-on-the-eyes quirky comedy.
Add any of the cast from Friends. In particular Jennifer Anniston, Cortney Cox or Lisa Koudrow.... sp?
IMHO, Julia Roberts had far more acting ability than Sharon Stone.
Too many actors today are given credit for being outstanding actors when they simply are living their true persona,...which in and of itself just as heinous as the character they perform.
Let’s not forget Whoopie Goldberg.
Whoopie didn’t act, she played herself.
Damon and Afflack’s best roles were portrayed in Team America.
Wayne was consistently typecast, to the point where entire movies were written around his character. Take him out of that and give him a non-cowboy role, say, that of Genghis Khan in The Conqueror, and you'll see just...uh...how deep his...uh, well, you'll see what a versatile actor he...uh...
Never mind.
For me, the best shot for good horsemanship was Ike Clanton riding off after dropping his red sash on the ground. Man, what a rider. Kurt Russell and Sam Elliott always ride nicely ... Val Kilmer's horsemanship looked like he was a little green.
Off subject ... my favorite movie horseman ever ... well, two ... Yakima Canut and Ben Johnson. With Ben Johnson, he just thinks about going over there or halting here, and the horse does it. I love watching him on horseback.
Everybody was tops. Michael Biehn as screwy Johnny Ringo made the movie in a lot of ways. It had so many perfect casting matches. In this house, we thought it was just us that could watch the stupid thing over and over, felt compelled to even, and loved it every time. Still do a couple times a year. Then we find out that it's not just us, it's a lot of people, all different kinds. A friend's teen-aged daughter must have watched it a dozen times.
Just one of those stars-aligned-right movies, I guess.
Yeah, those two were real horesmen, and Johnson was a cowboy. I know Canut was Wayne’s main stuntman, was he a cowpoke too?
Nicholson’s early work was great. Shapiro should see Carnal Knowledge of The King of Marvin Gardens. And he’s a great showman when needed (The Shining).
I bought the DVD when it first came out, the the “Directors Cut” DVD and now have it on Blu-ray. I love it.
