CEDAR RAPIDS Beer and diesel fuel spilled from a semi-trailer truck that overturned Thursday morning in Cedar Rapids.
Authorities said the semi, driven by Travis Dicks, 36, of Colfax, Wis., was taking the ramp from northbound Interstate 380 to westbound Highway 30 just before 8 a.m. when he lost control. The rig went down an embankment into a grassy area and tipped onto its side.
Dicks was not hurt in the crash. Fire Department spokesman Greg Buelow said up to five gallons of diesel fuel may have leaked out. He said firefighters sealed a crack on one of the two 175-gallon fuel tanks.
The semi was loaded with about 45,000 pounds of Bud Light beer, mostly in 24-packs, Dicks said. When the semi tipped, the top of the trailer split open and some of the cargo spilled onto the grass.
Dicks said he caught loose gravel as he took the ramp, and he lost control.
I tried bringing her back, but that didnt work, so I tried to steer her down the hill to keep it upright, but that didnt work, either, Dicks said.
The windshield popped out when the tractor cab landed on its side, and Dicks crawled out through the hole. Two people stopped to make sure he was OK.
Dicks was headed for Fridley, Minn. after starting his trip in Lee County, Iowa.
Police shut down the ramp so the tractor cab could be towed away. Another semi was en route to load up the beer.
So where was the beer involved?
And everybody got excited, until they realized it was Bud Light.
I’m sure that the diesel fuel helped improve the blandness of Bud Light.

Should read: diesel and something loosely referred to as beer, which it is not “bud light”.
Enough to make a strong man cry.

They said that it could not be done,
He said Just let me try.
They said, Other men have tried and failed,
He answered, But not I.
They said, It is impossible,
He said, Theres no such word.
He closed his mind, he closed his heart...
To everything he heard.
He said, Within the heart of man,
There is a tiny seed.
It grows until it blossoms,
Its called the will to succeed.
Its roots are strength, its stem is hope,
Its petals inspiration,
Its thorns protect its strong green leaves,
With grim determination.
Its stamens are its skills
Which help to shape each plan,
For theres nothing in the universe
Beyond the scope of man.
They thought that it could not be done,
Some even said they knew it,
But he faced up to what could not be done...
AND HE COULDNT BLOODY DO IT!!!!!

That’s ok. It was only Bud Light. It’s less filling...

You read my mind.
Your shipment of FAIL has arrived.

Back in 1980 I accidentally filled my saab 99 with diesel. Fortunately the station had a garden hose and we just siphoned it into the street storm drain.
My, times have changed.
That depends. I’ve seen advertising that was intended for gays pushing Bud Barf in a rag that used to be given away free in local convenience stores
From that time on I’ve always looked carefully at anyone drinking Bud Light.
Hubby and I were driving home from a camping weekend once in Ohio and had a flat right at the spot where a semi had crashed in a cornfield filled with SAM ADAMS beer. One of the guys unloading the truck and dealing with it called us a tow truck since we didn’t have our spare with us.
The smell of that beer was heavy in the air and I couldn’t believe they weren’t drinking any of it.
I don’t drink beer myself but hubby said Sam Adams is a good beer and that whole semi was full of it all turned on its side in a cornfield in August.
I know hubby would agree that Bud Light is NOT really beer.
Good thing is was only Bud Light. Perhaps the diesel fuel will give it some taste. ;-)
Only if you consider Bud Lite beer. Sounds more like a toxic waste spill to me............
That is a big case alcohol abuse.
