OK, as usual today I read through a dozen (actually probably more) threads about various subjects.
I am interested is seeing the news. I am interested in reading other peoples opinions about what is happening.
Just about every thread I visited had such a huge amount of rancor and spite and outright viciousness it was practically unbearable.
So what is up with all the fighting? Why does every thread turn into a room full of drunk badgers, wolverines with an estrogen overload, and cross dressing hyenas?
Don't we have the ability to be even just a little bit civil with people we disagree with? Are we not adults here? Or at least trying to be?
I finally realized why I've been getting the urge alot lately to pop "Lord of The Flies" in my DVD players!
I understand that people have strong opinions about politics, but it's getting to the point I'd be scared to go to a FReeper party because I KNOW it would turn into a flash mob brawl!!
Calm down folks! Switch to decaff or something!
his picture is in the encyclopedia next to ‘banal’..
Not sure..my brother always loved Mary Ann.
You’re only 33.33333% correct.
John Tesh
that guy is a co-assistant antichrist with Yanni!
No doubt the economy is a huge, huge stress point.
The biggest problem I see with that is people will be willing to vote for whoever can put a chicken in their pot, rather than voting on the principles.
But everytime we do that, we hose ourselves. I mean that’s what happened with SS. That’s what happened with Medicaid, unemployment, etc. etc. etc.
So I dunno. I certainly don’t want to see anyone have a hard time. But OTOH, I don’t think the government should be in any form act as “social providers”.
One thing is for certain.
We need to BRING THE JOBS BACK!!!
If I were the Grand Pahbooh, I would immediately put in place a 100% tariff on anything and everything that comes into this country.
Put people back to work making the things that the big industrial goons found out they could have made at some offshore joint for 15 cent an hour labor.
Just my opinion, but partly relevant to the thread...
People who didn't lock step remained silent for, IMHO far too long, and now they've had more than enough.
That’s the problem right there.
SP haters? No, SP dislike was not allowed or your very loyalty to America, and being a Conservative was called into question.
Free Republic turned into “You MUST worship/adore SP” site.
And alot are kinda tired of it.
First there is Left vs. Right
Within these is there is Emotional vs. Rational.
I think this division is fueling the nature of our discontent.
Also, I know that I am pretty stressed out by the state of the nation, the commie in the White House, and the culture that is slipping away from us with the help of the elites and the media.
It’s hard not to be a little edgy. These are scary times.
Accurate....
amusing...
works for me, no problem here!
I'll be in the area all day.
Carry on.
You “hater” you! I know you have hated xyz forever..Don’t deny it..and stay off this thread, Troll!
I see a ZOT coming.
;o)
Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays are fabulous musicians. Another bunch of fearless fusion players -- Steps Ahead ... all of them, and Michael Brecker (RIP) on the EWI ... on the SA album Magnetic, his rendition of In a Sentimental Mood gives me goose bumps every time. A FAR FAR cry from Kenny G!
brings back memories - 2005 hannity said freepers ‘eat their own’. guess from an outsiders view nothing has changed.

“Probably a combination of less-than-inspiring candidates, and the grinding hell of a declining America.”

That would tend to make people grumpy and uneasy. Have noticed this a lot even off Free Republic.
Now can we all remember that God, or as Rush Limbaugh calls him “Gawd” is in control???? Every thing will be okay, we should all keep praying.
It won't be that 'clean'. It will be an ugly "multi-sided" brawl. Internal wars are always thus. Even the US Civil War (which really was a failed war for Independence, not a "civil war") had it's "free agents" out on the Indian frontier, Kansas-Missouri Borders, West Virginia, Copperhead Democrats in the North, etc.
I know and it’s really disappointing.
Of course, I immediately got the put-downs and arrogant replies which rather proved my point.
However, since the oxygen is no longer being sucked out of the GOP primary by would-be/wouldn't-be candidates things should calm down. The primary debates will begin to separate the wheat from the chaff. Pleasant and unpleasant surprises may be in store. Unfolding events will be exciting to watch and comment upon.
A call for civility on this forum by any freeper member should not be met with a pie slapped in the face.
Civility means tuning down the maliciousness and name-calling....and tuning up reliance on courtesy, facts and reason.

It is like fear-biting in frightened dogs.
The national situation is terrifying. There seems to be no way to control it or protect yourself (much) so you get this kind of behavior.
I am having to suppress it in my own daily behavior.

Nicely stated, and I don’t think we are that distant in our thinking and attitude. I totally agree with your stance on “public robbery” and “constitution trashing”. A relevant example in today’s news cycle is the “Millionaire Tax”. Just another way for the political class to raid the pockets of hard working people.
I too see the decline of our country and it saddens me greatly. I do see some glimmers of hope in the Tea Party as well as the internet countering the main stream media, but I wonder if it is too little too late. Too many people blindly follow what others tell them and apply no thought processes to what they heard. Skepticism can be a good thing.
You heartless? Quite the contrary. You believe in helping those whom you choose, not the government taxing you in order to give your money to whom they choose. Clearly you possess generosity, but it is a guided generosity, guided to those you believe are worthy of receiving it. These traits indicate a willingness to think and apply one’s world view to one’s actions; an admirable trait more people should possess.
It appears to me that we have far more in common than we have in differences. If this nation is to survive, more people have to engage their brains, and not just their lungs. Thank you for your insight.
