There was a Doctor dealing with gerontology, and he wrote a Book “We Live to short and die too long.”

Did not read the book, but did read his short newspaper column each week. His Mother lived to be over 100, I'm not certain but The Doctor did not.

The point being ... our life is indeed short in the ribbon of time. What do we accomplish during our opportunity of life? Do we simply go along each day doing the basics, or do we indeed live so as to be in the Kingdom with Christ Jesus?

We are the hands, feet, voice, and vessels of our Lord, carrying his image for those around us to see, our life and consider, if we too are worldly, or are we sincere in our dedication and faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Something to ponder. Can others tell I am a servant of Jesus? Sincere?, faithful?, loving? It is my prayer.

A tornado? Was there a lot of damage in your area? I hope not.

The mold sounds icky. Where is it?

MOLD!

Fuzzy wuzzy was a mold.
Fuzzy wuzzy was quite old.
His hyphea went into a peach.
Deep inside the hyphae reached.
Soon the peach got really squishy,
Oozing everywhere, so mushy,
The peach looked really, really EEWW.
I wouldn't eat it. Would you?

It leveled 6 houses, and damaged over 25. It lifted pickup tucks off the ground and moved them around. Less than 10 miles from my house.

Here the mold is either black or green and grows on concrete. Since all the houses have concrete roofs and walls, that means the entire house can get “Warm and Fuzzy” very quickly in damp weather.

EYEW.

Like Yorkie said, “I’m glad you are safe and sound, too, Mary Lou!! How far are you from Tampa? My sister in law just moved to Tampa. Her son has been there for quite a few years and he’s always wanted his Mom to move to Florida. I have talked to her several times since she recently moved and she’s loving her new little apartment. She is close to her son, too. He and his wife live on the 21st floor of this swanky Towers place that looks out on Tampa Bay. It is quite fancy.

Tampa is about 500 miles from where I live. I am closer to Ft Lauderdale.

That apartment sounds WONDERFUL! :-)

My Fingernails Or His Hand?
October 20, 2011

Tough times can cause us to get our perspective turned around. I was reminded of this recently as I talked to a fellow-griever—another parent who, like Sue and me, lost a teenage daughter to death suddenly and without warning.

She told me she had been missing her daughter terribly, and she told God she felt as if she were hanging on by her fingernails. Then she felt as if God reminded her that His hand of protection was there to hold her up—that she could let go, and He would catch her.

That’s a better perspective, isn’t it? This picture reminds us that when troubles come and we feel least able to hold on to our faith, it’s not up to us. It’s up to God to support us with His mighty hand.

Psalm 37:23-24 says: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord . . . . Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.” And Psalm 63:8 tells us: “My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.”

In tough times, we can become so preoccupied with our role in “clinging to God” that we forget about His promised protection. It’s not our fingernails that sustain us—it’s His loving, upholding hand.

God’s hand that holds the ocean’s depths
Can hold my small affairs;
His hand that guides the universe,
Can carry all my cares. —Anon.

No one is more secure than the one who is held in God’s hand.

Read: Psalm 37:23-26

The Lord upholds him with His hand. —Psalm 37:24
