Drunken Elk Hides Kids' Swing Set in a Tree
The Local ^

Posted on 09/25/2011 1:58:25 PM PDT by nickcarraway

An elk drunk from eating fermented apples in southern Sweden ended its binge by making off with a family's swing set and hiding it in the woods. Hunter in hand-to-hoof battle with angry elk (12 Sep 11) Drunken elk rescued from Swede's apple tree (7 Sep 11) 'Leffe the moose man' promises elk intimacy (6 Sep 11) A homeowner from Storebro in northern Kalmar County arrived home on Wednesday night to find his garden littered with bits of apple and other signs that an elk had been partying in his back yard, the local Östran and Barometern newspapers reported.

The concerned homeowner also discovered that the children's swing set which normally sat in the yard was missing.

The man immediately called police, who contacted a local hunter to track down the inebriated elk who was thought to possibly be injured.

Drunken elk are common in Sweden during the autumn season when fermenting apples are plentiful, both on the ground and hanging from the branches of trees which many Swedes have in their yards.

While police and the hunter failed to meet up with the prank-playing elk, they did eventually find the family's swing set, propped up in a tree deep in the woods about 500 metres from their home.

I sometimes have problems with fainting in mid-pregnancy. Not this time, though.

Sunny and 57 at this time. I’ll make sure I close all the windows tonight - it got quite cold in the house last night. Tom got back late from Boy Scout camping and has to go to Mass at 5:00 tonight, so I’ll put a casserole in the oven and a carrots dish (with raisins and almonds) on the stove around the same time.

My left hand is orange from the carrots. (Right hand was holding the knife.)

Orange and pale-flesh-tone.

I put the casserole in - they always seem to take longer than expected, maybe because they’re so large. Ash is moping because it’s not her supper time yet!

Gee. Why do you make such large casseroles? *snort*

(Double everything but the time. With the time you add one half to the original.)

I started working on my personal history again today. Only got 1.5 pages done, but that’s good, compared to what I have been doing. I’ve promised myself I would work on it at least an hour a day. That may be extended, depending on how I feel, but I need to get it done.

I have so many things to take care of...

I think I’ll have done 7 loads of laundry by the time I get to bed tonight, and that’s if there are no disasters.

Pat, James, and Vlad all got haircuts after church. Their hair was so plush it looked like you could bounce bricks off their heads.

I need a lot of leeway to get by!

I also need to get a boy to put new batteries in my camera. I took it to the Cub Scouts party on Thursday, but it reported the batteries were dead. Other people take pictures with their phones, but I’m too clutzy for that.

Ahdang. My phone is like a “Point-and-Click” camera: I turn it on the camera mode and all I have to do is point it at what I want to keep, press the camera button and if it doesn’t look good, I can delete it.

The biggest problem is being able to transfer the pics to the net...don’t know how that works.

(Anybody?)

Most phones you can use a USB cable to connect the phone to a computer. There are 2 sizes of standard cables and some that are only used by that brand of phone. If you have a data plan you can send them by e-mail to your self.

What kind of phone do you have? I will try to find the method that works for you.

I’m packing up for a trip into the wilds of Pennsylvania.

One never knows, you know?

Try not to get crushed in an “occupy” migration.

What he said...

It'd help if you knew what Brand and Model your phone is.

Most likely, something like this.

Yep. That’s was the cable looks like, but when I plug the USB into the computer, I get a “Charger Connected” message.

I just figured it was Operator Error. It’s a Cricket phone but I can’t see anywhere who manufactured it.
