Herman Cain is hitting back at Morgan Freeman for calling the Tea Party racist.
The Republican presidential candidate called the Oscar-winning actors eyebrow-raising remarks short-sighted on Friday. "Most of the people that are criticizing the Tea Partiers about having a racist element, they have never been to a Tea Party," Cain told Fox News.
Freeman, who endorsed Obama in 2007, created a firestorm when he told CNNs Piers Morgan earlier this week that conservative opposition to the President has enflamed racism in America. He added the Tea Partiers have the mentality of "Screw the country, we're going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here It is a racist thing."
Despite the criticism, Cain said he wasnt offended by Freemans comments. "Name calling is something that is going to continue in this because they dont know how to stop this movement and this movement is making a big difference in politics," said Cain, the former CEO of Godfathers Pizza.
At a GOP presidential debate on Thursday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry said - if he could - he would pair Cain with ex-House Speaker Newt Gingrich to form his ideal running mate.
Cain was flattered.
"Ive even seen some of the phrases that I used in the first debate being used in some of the later debates," said Cain. "Im ok with that; imitation is the best form of flattery."
But Cain trails behind several of the other presidential hopefuls. He stands in fifth place, with 7% support, according to the latest Rasmuseen Reports survey of likely GOP primary voters. Ahead of him are Perry, with 28% support, Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, with 24%, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 9%, and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann at 8%.

The article mentions a Rasmussen poll so I went to find the most recent Rasmussen poll, which was Sept 23, the day before the article dateline.
Unless someone can show me a more recent Rasmussen poll before the article date, the author and the website are being dishonest in how they portrayed the rankings.
Morgan Freeman my ass. Who the hell is he to be quoted about anything but acting in lousy movies. He probably still has some brain damage issues from the car wreck in Mississippi a few years back
In that picture at 46, is that very young lady someone Freema was—ahem—involved with romantically?
Anyone can find a poll to count out a candidate they don’t like. I don’t care if the Rasmussen poll is 4 or 5% or 1%. That poll is notorious for picking RINOS
And he could have a victory party across the nation on the INTERCONTINENTAL Railroad.
If the press was really serious and non-biased, they’d admit Herman Cain would be the first black president. What we have now is a 1/2 white POS.
Joseph Farah suggested a few days ago that Sarah should run as a Democrat, since the field over there is so much less crowded.
Also, since it would make the path to Obama’s re-election that much more difficult.
Cain is everything that Morgan Freeman isn’t as well.
Herman Cain is saner than BHO.
For me it is either Cain or Palin.
Morgan Freeman needs to stick to doing the one thing that he does right. Acting.
“Id be thrilled with Cain, Bachmann, DeMint, or Palin.”
That is a good list.
I don’t understand why some have dissed Bachmann so readily.
Cain is not perfect, neither polished nor as experienced as I would like, and the same is true for Bachmann. That doesn’t matter to me, since I want someone who will govern lawfully rather than just an entertainer. We saw what skill with a teleprompter does when that’s a politician’s only qualification.
Poor Freeman isn’t even fit to act like he’s President Herman Cain in front of a camera.
The poll didn’t count out a candidate.
The website article did.
Yellow journalism.
And no one to call it out ... situational ethics strikes again.
I enjoyed reading your informative post, thanks for that!
