A calico cat named Willow, who disappeared from a home near the Rocky Mountains five years ago, was found on Wednesday on a Manhattan street and will soon be returned to her family, where two of the three children and one of the two dogs may remember her.

Wrap her up and send her here!
ROFL - I laughed so hard at that Dusty clip....especially the footage of him carrying his loot back. That was priceless!
The English language is so convoluted. Upon research I find that some do indeed allow the plural possessive form of nouns ending in s to add es. They say this is for ease of pronunciation.
I was taught that the form of nouns ending in s is as follows:
Joneses = plural of Jones
Jones’ = singular possessive of Jones as in Mrs. Jones’ cat
Jones’ = plural possessive of Jones as in The Jones’ family cat Willow. The understanding of the plurality of Jones being understood as a party to the context of the sentence.
I found this all very confusing and the whole matter of Grammar just a mess since I am an Engineer and Literature folks are not generally considered very logical thinkers. However, having a name ending in s I paid more than the usual passing amount of attention when this subject was covered. I actually looked up from my history book or latest copy of Popular Science hidden in my text book on the desk. Mostly I was in trouble in the 4th grade though for not paying attention since most of what was being said was of no particular interest to me.
For those interested you can begin with the plural of nouns here and work your way up to the singular and plural possessive case of nouns ending in s. Yahoo.

“If that cat could talk what tales she’d tell...”
She was most likely re-routed by the airlines. A direct flight from CO to NYC? Yep. In my experience that takes what FEELS like five years! ;)
Most likely her (Willow The Lady Cat’s) traveling days are done. Most likely she will become a house cat. :)=^..^=
That presentation from “Must Love Cats” was or rather is among my favorites.
Thank you. After I lost my beloved Jester, a tortie and white I’d taken off the street as a feral kitten, to kidney failure at 16 1/2, I was beside myself in grief. She was so closely intertwined with my soul, we were an inseparable team. My friend Chani, a very religious person, told me that “G-d helped you to find your other cats, He will show you with signs and wonders which kitten He means for you to have now.” That night, for reasons unknown even now to me, I went into a cat chatroom, something I’d never done before. I was mostly exchanging words with someone whose screen name was (for example) ABC-1. Then I logged off. In the morning, with my Maine Coon on my lap, I visited another website where they always had pics of peoples’ pets posted. I saw what I would swear was a picture of Jester as a kitten, seated on a couch. I thought someone had stolen one of her kitten pics and posted it! I found myself actually sort of convulsing in my chair, what a reaction. I saw that someone named “DEF-2” (for example) had posted that picture. I Googled DEF-2 and found a post from another forum, stating that “ABC-1” was my OTHER screen name! The very person with whom I’d been chatting the night before. I found an email address to ABC-1/DEF-2 and contacted them to see if there was a sibling to that kitten available, that she was exactly what I was seeking, the spit image of Jester. Turns out that a litter of 5 one-week old babies had been found in a yard, covered with fleas and ticks, digging blindly into the mud of the yard. Obviously mom had been hit by a car or something. The kind houseowner took the babykits and gave them into the care of an expert in orphan kitten care. She and her 5 teens pulled 3 of the 5 babykits through. One of them, the only female, was my Kefira. The only reason they hadn’t been posted on Petfinder, where zillions of people could have seen them, was that they were underweight for their age due to their perilous beginnings, too small to be spayed or neutered yet. Once they were a bit heftier, they’d be spayed/neutered and posted on Petfinder. I waited for them to be spayed or neutered, told them that the tortie and white girl HAD a home already (MINE!), then flew from NYC to upstate NY to pick her up. If those weren’t enough “signs and wonders” to let me know clearly that THIS was the kitten He intended for me to have, I don’t know what would be. And Kefira has proven to be a fitting successor to my sainted Jester—she is brilliant, gorgeous, loving, and funny as all get out!
Nice!
