Legendary flower of Buddhist yore blooms at a Mapo convenience store

Korean news outlets are reporting that an udumbara -- a legendary flower in Buddhist literature believed to bloom once every 3,000 years -- has sprouted at a humble Family Mart.

Store manager Kim Jong-woo was cleaning when he spotted the 17 tiny flowers growing on the window.

He recognized the flowers, he said, from images on television.

Really, really old reruns.

Just adding to the catalog, not sending a general distribution.

To all -- please ping me to other topics which are appropriate for the GGG list.

My father has an albino red squirrel collecting Black Walnuts on his property. Does that portend and kind of renewal or doom?

I feed crows in my front yard. They now recognize my car and show up when I come home from work.

My wife hates it and says that the crows are "evil". I laughingly agreed and told her: "I know. That's why I'm feeding them!"

I know this has nothing to do with the article, but I'm proud of my evil crows. LOL.

"A lot of sick people have been coming in to see the flowers," Kim told CNNGo. "They sit in front of the flowers and some of them say they feel better afterwards."

You feel better after just seeing the flowers? Hell, I bet that if you ate one of those flowers, you'd be completely cured.

I'm just saying.

Four years ago I saw a crow with finger like blotches of white all over its wings in the North Minneapolis ghetto. Crows are smart birds. I haven’t figured it out yet, but thousands of crows fly out of Minneapolis in the mornings and then back in before dusk. I think it might be only during the winter so I am theorizing that the city is warmer but has less food compared to the suburbs. It is interesting to watch.

I am going to stick to corn fed beef this fall, but if times get tough I will take out my plinker and find me some good eats in the trees.

For me or the cow?

Both. Most of these nasty cases of e.coli from beef is due to the unnatural grain/soy based diet most cows are forced to eat. Grass fed all the way!
