Christmas Cactus - Photograph by Richard Reynolds

The reason I chose the Christmas Cactus this morning,
Is because mine is blooming!
It did the same thing last Labor Day,
Popping out it's lovely blossoms
At the wrong time of year.

Have a peaceful Sunday, everyone!

I had a nice visit with Jaycee this morning, and she is STILL without a computer! She misses EVERYONE so much! (And her prayers continue for Dubya and Conor!)

She thinks she will be back online sometime this coming week, but not sure! (I’m sure she is HOPING!)

I was thinking of her this morning and missing her..

I hope she knows not to worry about answering all the pings she has had during her absence. Start fresh!

Well, you know, I have the feeling that my Christmas Cactus blooms when the stores start putting out Christmas Decorations, and cities and towns start putting up lights.

This year they seem to be doing it much sooner than ever - WAY before Halloween and Thanksgiving! Perhaps the stores and towns are hoping to get people in the ‘spending’ mood?

I’m ALWAYS in a ‘spending’ mood!(LOL!) But, that doesn’t mean I WILL spend - or CAN spend. Those without jobs are not going to be buying Christmas gifts - no matter how early the decorations start appearing.....(Just thinking outloud.)

I really can’t imagine Christmas decor out in the stores when it’s so hot!
I admit I downloaded some Christmas graphics this week..This warm weather lover is yearning for cooler weather..and I got it..This morning was actually a cool 76..usually start off in the 80s. We will only hit 95 today..YEA! The triple digit spell has finally been broken..

So far my son, SIL and grandsons have jobs..even the youngest grandson..I am so thankful..Being without a job is a very stressful, depressing thing...to speak nothing of the huge financial hardship..

I heard about the change in temp. I know last week when I was in Tulsa it was 103 and 105. To bloody hot and humid for this guy.

Enjoy your cooler temps. Only supposed to be in the low 70”s here today with a chance of rain. Now you need a few days of good rain.

I RARELY lose power..but recently there was a loud sound of a wind gust and a large area was without power for 6 hours..
It is a windy day..no rain storms in sight(sob)
BUT losing power twice briefly this morning worried me because of the recent long outage.

PRAYERS GOING UP FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEORGE WASHINGTON – THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your healing wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Amen.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!

Amazing Grace

by John Newton

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, .
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!

The Lord’s Prayer – Andrea Bocelli

DEAR GOD, who suffered torment, agony,
and death upon the Cross to free our souls
from the chains of iniquity, protect and defend
our troops. Guide them in the performance of
their duties. Strengthen them to endure hard-
ship, danger and deprivation in Your service. Let
their efforts free the people of Iraq and Afghan-
istan from the chains of terror and slavery,
foster a lasting peace in the region, and bring all
to a greater share in Your Mercy.
Amen.

THE NAVY HYMN

Eternal Father, Strong to Save

The Marine Corps Verse:

Eternal Father, grant we pray
To all Marines both night and day,
The Courage, Honor, Strength and Skill
Their Land to serve, Thy Law Fulfill.
Be Thou the Shield forevermore
From every peril to the Corps!

This is the day which the LORD hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalms 118:24(KJV)

Have a Blessed Lord’s Day!
