Don't like Perry? How about promoting your candidates positives?
8/27/11 | Listenhillary

Posted on 08/27/2011 7:00:28 PM PDT by listenhillary

We are adults and most on FR are very intelligent persons. I think we can decide if a candidate is right for us.

How about stop repeating the same Gardasil, Texas corridor, immigration stories over and over and over. Most have seen them by now if they have been paying attention. Most have judged the stories and condemn Perry to hell for them or they think that a president just might have different priorities than a state governor.

Screaming at us in all caps isn't going to change any minds. FR isn't the entire universe of voters. We are a very small pool of voters. If you're hell bent on trashing a candidate, it is likely that your efforts are wasted trying to persuade FR posters to change their minds about a candidate. Start standing out by the road with a sign telling your horror stories, pestering people in restaurants and buying billboards and advertising in newspapers and TV. You will have much more impact.

If you insist on cherry picking the negatives, can we do the same to you reviewing every decision and action that you have taken in your life? How would that work out for you? Honestly showing everything you have done, could you withstand the scrutiny?

I realize some of you insist that we are making a horrible mistake. The primary isn't until next year. Stop screaming. OK?

If you think ILLEGALs are only doing 'crappy jobs' you are uninformed. They have taken almost every job in construction putting second and third generation tradesmen out of work.

Only a small fraction of those here pick produce. That you don't know all this illuminates why you would so rabidly support a man as liberal as Rick Perry. That, and the fact that you think he' cute. How shallow and petty can one get.

Yeah, sure, Norm. I made it up. I'm not going to prove it to you so believe what you like.

Educating illegal kids who pay their own tuition is cost-effective, to be sure. These are kids that the feds refused to deport. Kids that grew up in Texas public schools and wouldn't know Juarez from Mexico City having never been to either. They are residents. Illegal residents, but residents. And they are not going away anytime soon, regardless of what you or I want. I'm not going to spend the time explaing to you the math on how it is cheaper to let them pay their own in-state tuition versus telling them to work in the onion fields, but it's a big savings and involves Perry's $349 million invoice to the federal government a day or two ago. Believe what you like.

One thing: you do realize the Texas Dream Act is different than the national one?

My favorite candidate is from Alaska. In 2009, she was a one woman opposition, when the rest of the republican leadership were cowering under their tables sucking their collective thump. She was the one that rallied the base.

She was the major voice on Obamacare and energy independence. Since then she has been one of the most significant voices on runaway spending, deficit, quantitative easing, the value of the dollar, and foriegn policy issues such as the treatment of Israel.

Thanks for your post...I personally abhor seeing the conservative base doing the job of the democrats, creating negative talking points, and denigrating every single candidate we might have as a nominee...it is very foolish, in the truest sense of the word. I intend to read the positives, make up my mind and vote in the primaries for who I believe is the best candidate. Then, I will support whoever wins and opposes Barry Obama. I highly recommend each of you do the same instead of inflating any candidates negatives that might turn off an independent voter.

I think she’s a plant who intends to stir crap on FR actually. She claims to be an educator but shows no evidence of being educated, holds very liberal illegal immigration/border views on a conservative site and seems to enjoy starting crap then running away. She’s done it with several of us so far.

Oh, and when presented with facts, she has a hissy fit and says “Good Night” alot too. Makes me wonder.

You and me both. My two teenage kids couldn't buy a job this summer. But every McDonald's and Wendy's within 10 miles is full of Mexican workers.

People with 18-month records (other than local politics) don’t tend to have as many negatives as someone who served their state for over two decades, Norm. I’m just sayin’...

Enlistment into the U.S. Navy, or any branch of the U.S. military, by citizens of countries other than the United States is limited to those foreign nationals who are legally residing in the United States and possess an Immigration and Naturalization Service Alien Registration Card (INS Form I-151/551 — commonly known as a "Green Card"). Applicants must be between 17 and 35; meet the mental, moral, and physical standards for enlistment; and must speak, read and write English fluently.

Note: The U.S. military branches cannot assist foreign nationals in obtaining admittance into the United States. Questions concerning immigration to the United States should be asked of the U.S. Embassy. Only after immigration procedures are completed and an applicant is legally residing in the United States may an application for enlistment be accepted.

They pick onions for 10 hours in 104 degrees. No one wants the jobs they will take. No one.

Don't be silly...illegals saturated and drove down wages in construction, auto body repair, and other skilled trades.
To go from bank teller to onion picker is absurd...
a wire basket manufacturer down the street from me was just raided a couple of months ago and paddy wagons took away illegals I was informed by a business owner next door...
These are ALL jobs American citizens can and want to do...

It doesn’t seem like that much of a secret.

Seems like its FRONT PAGE PROPAGANDA

Obama can hang about in Davos Switzerland without a glance.

By the way? where is butt boy today? is he on the island? Is he in Hawaii? maybe he is fomenting a war in Syria.
Who knows!!
lets get that SOB Perry! /s

“Why not (only say good things about candidates)? Hell I can play your stupid game all night.... “

Post 90, copied:

One of the main purposes of FR is for conservatives to get accurate information on potential leaders. That’s EXACTLY how we helped drive Governor Crist out of the Senate race in Florida - he claimed to be a conservative, and we outed him - and got the ‘unelectable’ Rubio instead.

So now we have a similar situation with Governor Perry...he’s also being promoted as a conservative, but he’s governed Texas far, far, from that ideal.

Again, it’s critical that conservatives get ACCURATE information, not that we be more ‘civil’, in the liberal sense of shutting down discussion.

Just saying what? That you can’t read or understand issues much less address them? What was accomplished in Palin’s term and what was done in Perry’s? Sure, he did good things. I have never denied that. But he did many stupid as hell things and THAT’s the problem.

I question the conservative credentials of anyone supporting a RINO like Rick Perry, especially one who signed up at FR shortly after the purge of Giuliani supporters.

DR, you are a keeper! Stay with ‘em. I dare not open my mouth but to say that it is very likely Rick Perry will go all the way if he runs well. The more you see of him and hear what he has to say the more desperate the media, the administration, the RINO’s and “others” are becoming. Some of that shows here. Unbelievable, but the evidence is all over the place. Thankfully, the Tea Party prefers him by some 65% plus. Who are the Tea Party? They were the ones who brought the fiscal assault on our country, Obamacare, to the fore. THAT is the singular reason the TP saw victory in the November elections. The economic collapse, job loss and socialism has to be killed and the nation is screaming for repair. Along comes economic heft, experience, fiscal accomplishment and leadership! Rick Perry’s got it and the nation wants it. The field is set and the gallant are in. Those who stay in are starting to hope for a position in the Perry administration. This will be a knife fight but in the end Texas will be Exhibit A for the shut out.
