Don't like Perry? How about promoting your candidates positives?
8/27/11 | Listenhillary

Posted on 08/27/2011 7:00:28 PM PDT by listenhillary

We are adults and most on FR are very intelligent persons. I think we can decide if a candidate is right for us.

How about stop repeating the same Gardasil, Texas corridor, immigration stories over and over and over. Most have seen them by now if they have been paying attention. Most have judged the stories and condemn Perry to hell for them or they think that a president just might have different priorities than a state governor.

Screaming at us in all caps isn't going to change any minds. FR isn't the entire universe of voters. We are a very small pool of voters. If you're hell bent on trashing a candidate, it is likely that your efforts are wasted trying to persuade FR posters to change their minds about a candidate. Start standing out by the road with a sign telling your horror stories, pestering people in restaurants and buying billboards and advertising in newspapers and TV. You will have much more impact.

If you insist on cherry picking the negatives, can we do the same to you reviewing every decision and action that you have taken in your life? How would that work out for you? Honestly showing everything you have done, could you withstand the scrutiny?

I realize some of you insist that we are making a horrible mistake. The primary isn't until next year. Stop screaming. OK?

Lenhart, did I read you right? Did you say Perry helped elect algore?

When was algore elected? (other than as Clinton’s VP)

BTW, this was in 1988 when algore was trying to get the Democrat nomination for President. In the Democrat primary in TX Perry supported Gore. Gore did not even come close to winning the party’s nomination...that went to Michael Dukakis, who was then beaten into c*** by Reagan’s VP, George HW Bush.

(Perry: There is a path to citizenship for ILLEGAL ALIENS who have served THEIR country)

Your tagline speaks volumes!

The problem is THEIR country is a major backer of illegal immigration into this country!

Perry said he supports a system that would temporarily legalize foreign workers, while making sure they pay taxes and obey the law."

And deprive US citizens of jobs.

Yes. Even the illegal ones. He prefers educated illegals to uneducated illegals. So do I. It doesn’t cost me, the taxpayer, one dime, and makes Texas a better place.

What's with your love for illegals?

Rick Perry is a professional RINO politician with a slick political staff, but no real history of true Republican ethics.

Sorry, but you've got it backwards. It's Cain, Bachmann, and to a lesser extent Palin that have thin resumes of actual accomplishment.

Cain and Bachmann are no more qualified than the wave of Hope and Change that was Senator Barack Obama. You can project all kinds of wonderful acts on them, but the reality is, they've never been in the big chair. Just as the left had high hopes and dreams for Obama, for no reason other than his core beliefs, there's no reason to believe that Cain or Bachmann can live up to their talk once they're actually playing at the top tier. There just isn't. Being President is a lot more complex than campaigning, as Dear Leader the Barackulous Miracle is learning.

Palin had a truly stellar rising career that was cut short. At least with her, there are indications that she had the right stuff to be a big league contender. That said, being a half term governor of a low population, non-border state isn't the same animal as running 25 million constituents well for 10+ years. People are going to view it differently. Sure, Perry isn't pure, but he's been tested more thoroughly for what the job of the U.S. President actually is than the rest of the field combined. His overall record is very good, even if he has some awful black marks.

We can assume that other candidates would be better because they've never been tested, but it's just an assumption.

Maybe so. Maybe he can get through to them, too. As I recall, Jesus went to the worst of society to preach — the tax collectors, the hookers, the lepers — not the saints. I have zero problem with him talking to people. None. And for what it’s worth, Perry was never invited back.

I’m only going to respond to the points since I assume you’ve already read the article. Notice that I will use all caps often when I find something that Perry has done to be amazingly over the top.

1. Gardisil: the FACT that the sitting Governor a state can GO ARUND HIS LEGISLATURE and IMPOSE MANDATORY vaccinations of a little tested drug AFTER RECIEVING CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS from said drug maker in direct funding and via his wife's super PAC is unconscionable. I don’t care if parents were able to opt out AFTER signing a affidavit. This is absurd in and of itself. HPV is not communicable disease meaning that it cannot be spread like the mumps of whooping cough. His actions on this are at minimum terminally stupid and at worse criminally motivated. If Obama did the same thing Freepers would be up in arms as they should be.

2. Trans Texas Corridor:
I read the apology for Rick Perry’s Eminent domain.

And I’m sorry I don't think that excuses him. It's eminent domain trying to pretend it's something else or less of a big deal than it is is BS.

3. Used to be a Democrat:

I think he still is. He could give Obama a good run for his money if he tried running for the Democrat ticket.

4.Secession:

He didn't come out and say it, but he intimated it to feed to his audience like a typical politician. so it's really a none issue to me, although there would be great Irony in a secessionist attempting to run for the Presidency of the United States.

5&6 Don't Care, does the author have anything better to do than apologies for a RINO? Seriously?

7. Immigration

I puked when I read those apologies, apparently the author doesn't acknowledge the convenient timing of Perry's sudden revelation of an immigration ‘emergency’ or chooses to ignore it entirely. But people in the know have seen the political opportunism and the expediency in which Perry has been deploying his emergency bills so that he wouldn't appear so completely worthless when it came to the topic of immigration. Let's see where Perry really stands on immigration and how is it different than Obama’s positions:

Perry: Border Wall Is “Ridiculous”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQqYf3lP0rY
Rick Perry: Border Fence is “Nonsense”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEHDDktDn8o
Rick Perry Doesn’t Support Border Fence
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVehEBgFFSg
Rick Perry AGREES with Obama: Open Borders for America!
Rick Perry wants an ‘immigrant worker program!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwD84nKA5y0
Rick Perry want supports Obama regime and Janet Napalatono’s border defense strategy.

Vicente Fox Thanks Governor Perry
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWLrI7RQetQ

8. Bilderberg

Rick Perry is a sell-out schill as much as rod Blagoavich is. I don't know if he's an NWO type. I do know that he's doesn't have the peoples best interest at heart.

9. Stimulus.

Err actually Perry has accepted of 17 billion in stimulus funds and it wasn't to restore burnt forest lands...

https://bi.cpa.state.tx.us/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp

Rick Perry supported the TARP BAILOUTS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3NNDLO7-AI

Fact Check: Rick Perry supported TARP bailout
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gU7-T0nxww

10-13. Don’t care

14. Illegal immigrant tuition

Come on are you serious? You don’t see a problem with this?! Rick Perry’s Texas Dream Act is to the left of California’s that was instituted by far left governor Jerry Brown!!! Since it allows illegal immigrants access to TAXPAYER FUNDED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS. Hello?!

15. RICK PERRY IS GAY.

I’ve heard this rumor as well and apparently Rick Perry is fine with it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8-8K8nug9s

16. Perry is a “weak” Governor

Nah, I’ve seen that he can wield enough influence to get his cronies placed in prime positions of power.

17. Texas Rankings.

Sure some rankings are going to be biased, but I wouldn’t cast them all aside out of hand. There’s enough out there to be able to differentiate fact from fiction.

If you are a Texas tax payor it sure does cost you. Out of state tuition being considerably higher therefore reduces the state support (read that your tax money) that the University receives. As an aside — why are ILLEGALS admitted to state universities anyway, regardless of the tuition they pay? That alone is ridiculous as every ILLEGAL student occupies a seat that should go to a legal student (and that includes the legal foreign students!)

D, what was that whole dream act, Texas version thing about? Do you think that whole educating illegal kids thing happens free?

For a supposed Professor, you don’t understand how things work very well. I think you made that up. No Professor thinks education happens for ‘free’. If they do, they deserve to have their license to teach revoked.

His Texas ‘Residents’ include illegals D.

A 2 year senator with a pathetic state voting record in Illinois whose only experience was rabble-rousing as a community organizer got elected. Bachman, Cain, Palin, Trump or Speed Racer are better qualified.

His election was clearly a historical anomaly due largely to his skin color. There is no equivalent factor on the Republican side to create a similarly historic anomaly.

Obama simply will not be re-elected if he faces a qualified opponent.
