Can't say I agree with any of these, except for the The Godfather and the original Postman Always Rings Twice.

Nicholson is simply NOT a good actor. Burton is fine -- except with Taylor. Their work together is unspeakably atrocious. Beckett is a much better example of his best work.

You have no Hitchcock; probably the greatest director of all time.

Casablanca does not have Bacall. The female lead is Bergman. Casablanca is actually the only one of Bogart's moderately tolerable films; mostly because of other actors. It's a 4/5 star movie, and doesn't have to be on everybody's list. The rest of Humphrey Pushcart's films -- including Treasure of Sierra Madre, The Maltese Falcon, and The African Queen are pure crap. Humpty is probably the most overrated actor in history.

In the period during which you list, you have no Westerns, but Westerns dominated this period for at least 20 years. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance should be on any classics list.

Most of the films on your list are soap operas. I guess there's no accounting for taste.
