Have one great grand daughter that I get up at 4am, 5 to 6 days a week, to take care of. She is adorable and smarter than most 8 year olds although she is only 3.
“”She is adorable and smarter than most 8 year olds although she is only 3.””
I heard tonight from a niece and she woke up this morning to find her 3 year old granddaughter staring in her face. She asked where her mother was and she said “sleeping.” She asked how she got to her house and she said, “I cwossed the woad.”
I would have had heart failure at that point. This is a very small upstate NY town, one I grew up in and we probably didn’t lock our doors then either. My niece’s daughter and SIL live directly across the street from her and apparently both husbands left for work and didn’t lock the doors behind them.
To top it off, the 3 year old had put on a pretty new dress and new shoes that were being saved for starting preschool. She wanted to look nice for her “outing.”
I think some husbands are going to get an earful about leaving their houses unlocked when they leave for work and I hope some childproofing of doors will be done. There are three children in that house and the 3 year old is the youngest. I’ve lived too long (50+ years) in big cities so I can’t imagine not making sure all doors are locked at all times!!

How lucky that little girl is to have such a wonderful person in her life. Having a little one around keeps you grounded and makes you realize what is really important. She will treasure the time you spent building memories with her.
