There are many here on Free Republic that absolutely love our "Fru-babies". We post pics and follow each other, well I thought it would be terrific if we post the pictures of our 'babies'.
I don't know about you all but mine 'get me through' these nightmarish days. They love me no matter what. They are there and want to be with me no matter what. That includes the way I now look in the mornings! LOL!
Show YOUR babies here... :) Here are a few of mine both past and present...
Thanks. Yes, SaraLee is pretty, scary-smart and very affectionate. Same as her half-brother.
That one most always brings tears to my eyes.
Will ya look at the paw on that kitty. Those must be some big ones.
Thank you for this thread.
Some of the stories about pets made me cry,
but it does my heart good to know that so many of
FReepers have rescue pets and have done so
much to help our animal friends.
No I’m not going to write off the breed at all. This thread has me reconsidering and especially your input on your routine with Ranger. My place is around 900 sq ft(yes it’s a matchbox!) but I have a large yard. Back when I had my collie, I could let him loose because there were no neighbors to speak of but the area has mushroomed in growth. But even then I would take Gremlin and load him up in my pickup and go out to fields so he could run. Don’t have a pick-up anymore but have a jeep which has enough room to ‘load’ a k9 furbaby. I’m partial to the larger breeds so like you said it would take commitment which I’m willing to do. My feline brood though, I’m a bit concerned about their reaction.
There are 3 breeds: The tervs, collies and goldens. Checking into them now. There are breed specific shelters for each which is where I will go to get one.
Thx for the information Joe.
Bless you my dear FRiend. Stay grounded and keep in contact with your FRiends on here. I have a daily prayer thread I can ping you to each morning. Just a simple devotional by Dr David Jeremiah.
Your furbaby was definitely a ‘gift’. Good luck to you in everything you pursue.
Majestic looking! Are they part Afgan or Greyhound by any chance? Beautiful animals.
We are Siamese if you please...
We are Siamese if you don’t please!
:)
LOL! “scary smart”...great description of most of our babies! :)
YW & Thank you for adding to it. It’s been inspirational and uplifting to see and hear everyone’s story about their babies. What wonderful stories about rescue and love. I needed to see it especially right now with all the stress we are going through. Hopefully the thread will stay active for a few days for others to enjoy as much as we have.
Keko was supposedly half Siamese and half Ragdoll. No idea about that, but from some angles, he definitely has Siamese markings. He sheds an enormous amount, which his big brother helps groom away, and then of course he gets the hairball for his efforts.
Miki is a huge baby, needs lap cuddles several times a day. Nothing like a hot running 16 lb cat in your lap on typical 80+ days. Keko never grew up, we like to say he is Miki’s kitten the way he dotes on him. He is more bonded to him than us.
Miki’s paws are not that huge, he just likes to tuck the paw under when he is resting. We are trying to get him to lose some weight, but he loves to eat. The vet calls him “Chunky Monkey”.
Hydro has an unusual frame, extra wide and large. He is 30” at the shoulder and a little over 100 pounds.
Percy was a “Oops” litter. We actually adopted him still as a puppy. The owners were not going to try and train them for racing. We often thought the two dumbest dogs in his kennel must have gotten together. Sweet and lovable, but dumb even on the reduced greyhound scale.
Percy has grown taller and longer than Hydro, but he is scrawny enough to still be 15 pounds lighter.
Both dogs can sit on the floor and eat from a plate on the table. We have trained them fairly well to not steal food but they cannot seem to resist sticking their wet nose in it before moving on.
When we first got them, Percy could run under Hydro without touching him. As he grew, this was first painful for Hydro, then for Percy as Hydro taught him to stop that.
Hey! Your white, flame-point shepherds match our white, flame-point kittehs!
Our Beaux is a “licker”. His tongue is so rough, that I feel like he could lick the skin right off my hand if I let him! I think it’s his way of kissing me. :o)
They are both beautiful. I was thinking of that song from Lady and the Tramp. The only real siamese I ever knew was my Aunt and Uncles, but she was mean as all get out. She would lay under the furniture and attack us kids and she was not declawed and boy she drew blood! Amazing that I still like cats (I do).
Yours look like sweeties. Love the ragdoll markings too. Do either of yours have that sweet meow that ragdolls seem to have?
Thanks! That persian is gorgeous. Stella is a Ragdoll and they have persian in their genetics.
Keko has just one sound, sort of a "Hooo-oot?" with a question mark at the end. Uses it to get your attention, then leads you to what it is he wants you to address.
Cats seem to have more vocabulary than dogs. A few of my dogs wold “woo woo” or “woof” but my current golden is almost completely mute.
