If anyone on this thread thinks that dogs arent mans best friend.... Try the following test.....
Lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car for one hour....
After the one hour is up, open the trunk and see whos happy to see you....

My neighbors live in the "fur farm mansion" that once belonged to a family that operated a fur farm here for many years. They specialized in raising Silver Fox and any local male living here before WWII probably worked for them at one time. Those Silver Fox (which are mostly black with light streaks) were wild, wild wild.
There are stories the old timers tell about when one would escape and the sirens would blow calling all of the young boys to get out of school to come help capture the fox. I can't imagine breeding foxes until they become tame and then turning your "pet" into a coat. The descendents of the fur farm family operate a pet food factory now -- a business that grew out of the fur farm. My dog eats their food -- Fromm -- which is shipped all over the world and sold in high quality pet stores. They also make mink food and I don't know what else.

Michael: Anyone who does not like dogs is not fully human.
Abdullah: But we Mooosluuums do not like dog. We tink dogs are vile and fillllty.
Michael: Well, Abdullah, you seem to make my point for me.

My dogs, I have 4, certainly talk to me. They have a greeting, “yea, you’re home” and a “hey mom a car pulled into the drive way” and a “stranger at the door”. But the most distinctive is “there is a rabbit in the yard!”. I hope I never have to go without my pup children.

They’re basically like 3 year olds - not a lot of complex thought processes, but thought processes just the same. Any dog owner could tell you this.

A lengthy transcript of a PBS show (”Decoding The Dog”) that’s just full of fascinating and fun facts for those of us who are owned by dogs. Worth the read when you have a little bit of time.
