A Matter Of Perspective
August 29, 2011
Are you part of the problem or part of the solution? Whether that question is posed during a business meeting, a church council, or a family discussion, it often springs from a sense of exasperation in trying to comprehend why someone has acted in a certain way. More often than not, the answer is a matter of perspective.
If we had been among the Israelites leaving Egypt after 400 years of slavery, we would likely have seen Pharaoh as part of the problemand he was. Yet God saw something more.
Inexplicably, the Lord told Moses to take the people back toward Egypt and camp with their backs to the Red Sea so Pharaoh would attack them (Ex. 14:1-3). The Israelites thought they were going to die, but God said that He would gain glory and honor for Himself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord (vv.4,17-18).
When we simply cannot understand why God allows circumstances that threaten to overwhelm us, its good to remember that He has our good and His glory in mind. If we can say, Father, please enable me to trust and honor You in this situation, then we will be in concert with His perspective and plan.
Your words of pure, eternal truth
Shall yet unshaken stay,
When all that man has thought or planned,
Like chaff shall pass away. Anon.
Faith helps us to accept what we cannot understand.
Read: Exodus 14:1-14
I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egyptians may know that I am the
Lord.
Exodus 14:4

S.A.N.D. ... Summertime, and the living is ... sandy.
Sand gets in the carpet,
Sand gets in your shoes.
Fight to keep the sand out,
I guarantee youll lose.
The toddlers in the sandbox,
Teenagers at the beach,
It even gets down in my shorts,
Where its rude to even reach.
Where does all the sand come from?
How did we get so much?
It is a longish story,
But it has a pleasant touch.
Find a grain of sand somewhere,
You neednt look too far.
There may be some left in your shoe,
Theres more out by the car.
Hold that little grain of sand,
Where you can see it close.
Im going to explain exactly,
How we got this healthy dose.
Youll see it sparkle as it turns,
Reflecting gleams of light,
But theres a lighter side as well,
If youll hear my fancy flight.
Each single grain of sand is more.
Its silicon dioxide, Si and then two Os,
Three million billion molecules,
And heres what they compose.
The silicon has fourteen parts,
That are quite positive,
Theyre mated up with neutral ones,
Which has some peace to give.
Twenty-eight bits of whichness,
All mixed up in a what,
And circled round with wonderment,
Thats tied up in a knot.
The Os that hang around it,
Are not just airy moons,
Each has eight bits of fire within,
And eight water balloons.
Sixteen pieces more then,
Of whatness in a where.
And not just in the sand but its,
One fifth of all our air.
And out there in the water,
Nine-tenths of all of that,
Though you may get it in your nose,
Its not for sneezing at.
Every one of these small things,
Was made so long ago,
We think they are forever,
But I must tell you no.
God put these things together,
A blessing is in each.
If you want to count your blessings,
You can start down at the beach.

GOOD MILITARY MONDAY TO AMYS PLACE!
The Soldiers Code
1) I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
2) I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender my men while they still have the means to resist.
3) If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.
4) If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me, and will back them up in every way.
5) When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am bound to give only name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies, or harmful to their cause.
6) I will never forget that I am an American fighting man, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower, August, 1955.

Aaron's sons did not follow God's direction and brought strange fire before the LORD! Instant death for both. Eli failed to teach his sons. David was another failure of a father. He allowed them, I suppose to be raised by their Mothers and their own whims. He did nothing when one of his sons raped his own sister, then one of the other brothers (her brother) Absalom killed his brother that had raped his sister and then he and the other brothers fled. ... We know the story of Absalom, how he wanted to be King ... it ended badly with his death and David wept exceedingly. David had a heart for God, yet he turned aside for Bathsheba, and did evil, because of it.
His failure as a Father haunted him to the end. It is a sad story. His sons did not have his teaching except in the end Solomon received the Kingship and blessing. David was a valiant warrior and leader, and he had a heart for God..
Many fathers fail to teach their sons ... or what they teach is idleness and crime. The sons have no direction or know the path to God. Fathers have a responsibility to teach values and right actions and thinking from the word of God to their sons, especially. It is God's instructions.

Hey!!!
Sorry that I’ve been absent. Seems that I have so many unfinished tasks that I am feeling overwhelmed.
I’m waiting to get back to the garage until the weather cools a little.
I still have massive amounts of genealogy info that needs to be organized and put into books for my nieces and nephews. That is a never ending job.
Hope all is well with you ... nice to know that you missed me. Thanks. ;~}
