I've heard varying quotes of how many daily users there on on Free Republic and even the most modest of them has my ire growing. Do ya wonder why?
And the economy is really bad. There are those who would love to give and just can’t. Recently there was a lady whose Hubby lost his job and they lost their house. They were living with relatives. She gave $5. It was a wonderful gift because it was from her heart. THOSE are the kind of people who are FReepers! There really are great people on this site. :-)
I spend enough of my time here. It’s the only place where everyone agrees with me .. mostly. What better place to invest.

I agree that it’s getting to the point where if you want to post it should be a set fee to join or get the privilege.
Too many people use this site for their needs and don’t give back. I realize many, many people are suffering in this economy and are still doing what they can to help with funds but many are not suffering and use the site. They should pony up.
But there are a whole lot of people here that I think would gladly start donating or pay a small fee to join if they suddenly couldn’t post. I hate to say it but that would be better than taking advertising. And it would make it so that these FReepathons were just a distant memory.

Agree with you and what someone else wrote, that is what FReepers are! We have some of the finest people around on this site, that’s for sure.
Look, if some ham-n-egger, from the hood like me can break off FR every month, so can you. Would it really break you to set up FR for a monthly automatic donation?

I've said the same thing many times over the years, just charge a few bucks to browse and a minimal annual fee and screw these quarterly BEG & PLEADATHONS.
What is the link to that list? I’ve been a donor for years but haven’t noticed the deduction from my account lately. I’m wondering if my debit card expired and I need to update the account info...

Freepathons may be taking longer since President Hopey-Changey but I don't want FR to change.
The only benefit I could see in charging a membership fee is that it would probably cut down on the number of trolls.
