Believers In Mysterious Planet Nibiru Await Earth's End
space.com ^ | 7 July 2011 | Natalie Wolchover

Renowned astrophysicist Carl Sagan once described a "baloney detection kit" — a set of tools that skeptical thinkers use to investigate any new concept. A few of the key tools include a healthy distrust of information that isn't independently verified, critically assessing an idea rather than becoming irrationally attached to it simply because it's intriguing, and a preference for simple explanations over wildly speculative ones.

The waxing obsession with Nibiru, which conspiracy theorists say is a planet swinging in from the outskirts of our solar system that is going to crash into Earth and wipe out humanity in 2012 — or, in some opinions, 2011 — shows that an astonishing number of people "are watching YouTube videos and visiting slick websites with nothing in their skeptical toolkit," in the words of David Morrison, a planetary astronomer at NASA Ames Research Center and senior scientist at the NASA Astrobiology Institute.

Morrison estimates that there are 2 million websites discussing the impending Nibiru-Earth collision. He receives, on average, five email inquiries about Nibiru every day.

"At least a once a week I get a message from a young person — as young as 11 — who says they are ill and/or contemplating suicide because of the coming doomsday," Morrison told Life's Little Mysteries, a sister site to SPACE.com.

What's the origin of this mass panic about Nibiru, which astronomers say doesn't exist?

These scientist are idiots. There is enough proof that something is out there. And that the summerians pretty much described it before any technology was there to see it. And I say that if they dismiss this why do they believe so much in Global Warming. Idiots.

The Australians seemed to be convinced there is climate change, and there is some melting around the Antarctic icecap. Obviously that might be solar, it might be ocean current, it might be something else. It doesn't justify Gilland’s carbon tax, and that's going to get her out of office pretty quickly.

Heres my prediction for 2012. Obamas administration is going to be in deep water over the F and F, gunwalker scandals and they are going to be getting impeached. He will be like a rat trapped. His ego is like Hilters. He will think to himself that “America Abondoned me, so now I will abandoned her”. There is going to be a terrible thing coming this way. And it may or may not be Nibiru. I think it will be Obama taking this country down.

Sitchcin RIP was so interesting to read. And it made alot of sense for the whole Missing link argument. I believe there is something out there. What Who knows? But the bible does talk about the annunaki or nephelim in Genisis. And many many times about UFOs , Ezekiel, and the other one where he was taken to heaven and never came back. I forget the name. So if you believe it or not there is a lot of evidence out there. You just have to open your eyes and mind to see it.

See that is wrong. So to you others opinions are crazy, stupid. I agree there are some out there. But it is not stupid and crazy to alot of us. Do research on Sitchcins books.

The short answer would be “NO”. :)

umm...How many Asteroids, Meteors, and Comets have Nasa missed till the last minute? While I'm not saying that some Rogue planet is out there, and coming to smack us, space is large and all the telescopes in the world, including Hubble, can't "see" everything.

Assumptions on your part on what my opinions actually are.
But yes, stating that comet Elenin is a gas giant four times the size of Jupiter is stupid when it is merely a comet.
Yes, that was actually said by some.
Showing a pic of the recent Kreutz sungrazer vaping in front of the sun is not proof of anything other than a Kreutz sungrazer got vaped.
No more, no less.
Yes, a few of what I mentioned did just that, stated that the recent Kreutz sungrazer was proof of “we’re all gonna die”.

If there’s anything out there it is either the size of Neptune and very very cold while sitting on a rather stable inclined orbit in a complimentary direction to the orbit of Sedna, or it is as small as Earth and still not likely to be much of an issue for us.

Something four times teh size of Jupiter would not be able to swing “within the orbit of Jupiter” towards Earth without horribly disrupting the solar system.
Yes, supposed Nibiru has been claimed to duck close to the main asteroid belt or closer while having more mass than Jupiter.

Not physically possible gravity wise.

Here’s a neat little gravity/orbital simulator. If you get a nice orbital model going and throw in a large mass, calamity ensues.

Been playing with that here and there.
It’s pretty fun when you make a nice system and then sling large objects through it.

>>>>Unfortunately with global warming, the indicators are mixed<<<<<<<

Global warming is real. Belief in MAN-MADE global warming is hoax.

Allow me to refine that:

Global warming is real. Belief that man-made global warming is the prime reason or the sole reason is fallacious.

Thanks smokingfrog. Sitchin died in 2010, and was never vindicated, which isn't surprising to me.
