I think he sounds like the same old Phil. His sprint calls have been great.
Today he commented that Voekler was, "stamping on the pedals as if he was trying to break the bike in half!"
Then, as Contador tried to open a gap, "Andy will have none of that!"

I've noticed a little edge in some of Phil's commentary as well. There's always been a little bit of banter between him and Paul but he does seem to be getting a tad cranky in his old age. Maybe he has aches and pains that make it harder to be cheery...
What a stage though! I have only just watched it as I had a funeral this morning to attend. Frank Schleck looked amazing. I am surprised he didn't win the stage- he was so strong at the end. Voekler turned himself completely inside out. It's hard to imagine that he can stay in yellow after an effort like that but who knows? a massage and a good dinner and he may rise feeling fresh as a daisy. Which btw, Contador was NOT. He stayed with the leaders (until the last) but looked weak to me. Maybe that's what I want to see.
Frank looked a lot better than Andy. I hope Andy isn't having a bad Tour. He attacked but there didn't seem to be any spring in his step like there was for Frank. Jens Voigt: what an animal!

Ok. In the past I always considered Phil a good natured guy with a lot of charm. This year, in the beginning of each stage’s show introduction with the broadcast team, he seems somewhat short and bizarrely abrasive. Like he’s the only one there not having fun. Kinda wonder if he got a bad contract or something.
