Prior to the tornado, you would not have been able to see anything with the houses and businesses there but now you can see for a mile.
My camera was full but I also drove by the Dollar store, the front was gone but the contents were still inside, standing nicely on shelves. Was pretty weird, I don't know if someone straightened up or if it just ended up that way. Also weird that it hadn't been looted.
Thanks Joe for all the help.
The pics don’t do it justice.
Wow, thanks for sharing. Got cousins in Joplin.
I hope they were not affected by the tornado.
These pictures just don’t do it justice, the debris is incredible, nothing is in one piece. I can’t believe more people didn’t die.
NOAA sent a crew to Joplin to see why more didn’t die, it went through the most populous area. I don’t know what they came up with but I’m sure it’s because there was lots of notice given, even so you look at the debris and wonder how people survived.
Street names are written on the pavement or on carboard signs.
My mother-in-law and sister-in-law lost their home and all their belongings in Joplin. Today they are spending the first night in their new home.....thank the good Lord.
Rush Limbaugh will be there on Monday and they both hope to attend the “Two if by Tea” party.
They’re okay. One is a doctor, and has been working in the ER there.
Here are a bunch more pics - it hasn’t changed much in 5 weeks.

I heard that Rush is going to be in Joplin on the 4th of July.
And that link has this impressive (more OMG pictures) of 9 before and after Joplin pictures: http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/before-after-pictures-of-joplin-missouri
Many prayers for Joplin and other affected areas.
I imagine that most people can't start removing the broken down houses until their insurance checks everything out....
I plan to drive through Joplin in two weeks. Would like to connect with Christian group and offer some support.
Wow, 4 and 5 are just incredible, totally obliterated everything.
Good old Academy Sports - everyone misses that place, hunting, fishing, water sports, actually had the biggest shoe department in all of Joplin. It’s right in front of the Walmart where people died.
He announced that today. The tea thing really hacked me off but this move, a refrigerated 18 wheeler delivering a load of the tea on Monday, plus his appearance around 8:00, totally makes up for his bs. Just imho I think the backlash has been pretty severe on the tea thing but in any case, this redeems the whole thing. (again imo)
The news here has been saying in the past couple of days that they are going to cite the residents that haven’t cleaned up yet. Can you believe that??? The city will go in and then bill the residents. Unbelievable...many of those residents have lost family members, and all of their belongings and Joplin is threatening them.
Despicable imho.
Why are you hacked off over the “tea thing?”
But for 10 months Rush kept leading (manipulating) his audience about something top secret. Missing days etc. There was quite a bit of speculation that it must be something political; influential on the current landscape. In other words...he was going to be doing something to fight the bastard in the WH. Then..he announces it was tea. What a joke. The country is going down in flames and he's well aware of it and he introduces a line of tea. If you go to his thread from that day you will see others who felt this way too. No biggie...he is after all just an entertainer and it was his wife's idea on the day they were married no less. *sigh*
Bottom line I was expecting an announcement like: He had filed a lawsuit or he had been conferring with attorneys about... etc etc. But nope...it was tea.
This is a great move on his part and will truly help Joplin. It's a good thing to see and helps the initial 'WTF' when the announcement came through.
Our church is going to Joplin to help rebuild. I am donating a week of my time. Will be aug, sept or oct. No date set but I signed up.
I know what you mean. It was kind of a disappointment.
I think 4-5 patients and 1 visitor were killed in the hospital. Pretty crazy - they got everyone out in 90 minutes.
